Alt coins are like the Wild Wild West.....it is bonkers.....

I have invested a bit in Stellar with the intention to hold onto it for quite a while and see what happens......but as Bill Gates "never invest in alt coins unless you are willing to lose everything"

Yeah bugger that. The only coin I've touched other than BTC is the BCH I got free in the split, I sold that and bought Bitcoin which I'm still spending/giving.

Logged into Scoobynet just to quote the above. I'm still kicking myself.... Maybe too late to get in now?

So come on then Jack, what should I do? I have £2k to play with... should I buy now while it's at this new high or wait for a magic dip where it loses half of it's value?

FYI if I had put in £5k like I was planning on doing in 2017, I'd be sitting on over £300k.

I'd wait for a dip, but don't expect a massive one, I suspect that it will hit 65 again soon and lots of people will bail, total guess but I wouldn't be surprised if we see 55 before we see 70.

Don't feel bad, I spent 2 back in the day on rubbish.

Thanks. I think there will be a small dip too... maybe around £40k. At that point I'll shove my £2k in and hold where hopefully it'll reach £100k I've successfully got myself setup and verified on Coinbase this time ready to go

By the way, hope you're well. This is my first post in a couple of years!

Yes, all good, not much work - thanks Breixit/Covid - but I'm old enough to cope. See you in another couple of years!

Close to $70k.... hasn't dipped either!

I put £1k into Bitcoin and £1k into Ethereum yesterday; going to be funneling £200 each month into it. This has to be the future... If only I did that in 2017.

I've read back through this whole thread and it made me laugh at some of the comments from years ago!

I don't really understand why crytpocurrency keeps rising in value, it seems anyone can mine it, so shouldn't the value go down? That may well be a silly question, but I know nothing about it, except for seeing it continually rise in value in the news!

There will only ever be 21,000,000 bitcoin, every now and then it gets harder to mine Bitcoin, this is by design and happens every 4 years'ish you can see a countdown here. It would take a massive investment to be able to mine any bitcoin now and even more in the future.

Its a decent dip guys. I would used it to accumulate until Q1 2022. The crypto space is growing unlike any other industry at the moment.

That's a healthy 19% dip, needed if we want it to grow.

For right or for wrong, I’ve just chucked £500 each into Bitcoin and Ethereum… “buy the dip” as they say.

Good shout. Side ways action in the market is expected for several weeks. If you decide to add more, average it out in smaller amounts over the next 2-4 weeks.

What caused it? Someone went to the docks to buy their cartoon boat to find out it was a drawing?

@JackClark Lol... I'm now thinking this has been a mugs game for the past 5 years. Crypto appears more unstable than ever before and you'd think things would have progressed in that time where it can be of actual use by now. Clearly not. No words.

Thank goodness I didn't put in tens of thousands of pounds like some people have near the peaks. I'm pretty much writing my £3k off and will just forget about it for the next 5 years.

You have the right idea, don't look at it. I too wish more people would spend it rather than just purchase hoping to make money. Fully wish I'd sold half mine at $60k but it's all about the timing and I'm not good at that.

Getting back up there and far less hype and ****coins this time. If you did put £200 a month in, which may have been a hard call at the time, then you're obviously quids in already but if not I can see $70 this year.

Obviously this is not investment advice it's hindsight.

That’s crazy i didn’t expect it to go above 65k but thats why im not an investor and just a watcher its gambling which ive never done and would be crap at! I certainly wish i had bought into it years ago but thats the same for everyone in hindsight like that gaming companys shares that went through the roof was about a week too late on that one to take a risk

I was paid in bitcoin a few months ago, and it's nearly tripled so I'm not complaining. Paid for Enginetuners bill!
