I still own 2 spec C and race/sprint them when I can. I purchased a M135i 18 months ago and enjoyed it but the wife ended up with it. No hair dressers jokes please.. When I bought the M135i nearly 2 years ago now I test drove the M4 and was disappointed again. It didn't feel agile at all and felt very twitchy so I chose the M135 as it felt more agile and light. So when I heard about the M3 competition pack I thought I'd give it a go and was expecting to hate it again but I was amazed, it was night and day the difference. I was blown away with its agility and poise and the way it turns in shocked me. So I was sold on the car car, I test drove a red one one the Friday and picked the white one up Tuesday afternoon! I loved it that much, oh the wife was a bit gutted as I part exed the M1 it's a great car
I really have my heart set on m4 but fear the problem I may get annoyed with they heavyness bmw's have. I love the looks.

Nice car and great colour combo. The comp pack 666s set it off well and look even better in real life.

I've had an M4 since new (Sep '14) and had the same issues as you described. I have test drove a comp pack version and my main niggles ('bouncy' damping, exhaust sound, along with deeper seats and slightly sharper steering) have been sorted.
Enjoy the car .. Meanwhile I'm still thinking of where to go next as I had an 2012 E92 Comp pack before the M4 and i feel the need to jump to another manufacturer rather than upgrade for now.

On the grand tour clarkson said that the new m4 was shockingly bad. No handling, drives all over the place. On the other hand....a Porsche gt3

Coming from an Impreza.. How do you get on with all that power running through the rear wheels?

I know it's just vids but I've seen a lot of them and the new M3/4 looks scary as fu&k as an ownership prospect to be honest. Was actually pondering it this morning funnily enough, out in my STI in the damp, greasy roads and just powering out the bends and generally feeling sure footed. I don't know how anyone can relax in a new M3 trying to make progress this time of year.

The power delivery looks deadly.

Don't know if anyone has watched Archie Hamilton on YouTube but he did a vid with his mate's remapped M3 the other day.. Jesus wept was just fish tailing like a mad thing down the road in 3rd gear! Not the sort of car your average driver should own that's for sure.

Having done the cossie thing many years ago (getting toward 20) and remembering how great it felt buying a gti-r and not feeling like I was going to die... I don't know if I'd like a new M3 in this country. Prob great in the summer or somewhere like California.

Are they as viscous as they seem?

I still think about that vid from when they first came out, the one in America where the cars are leaving that meet. Not sure if anyone's seen it? But the guy pulls away on a dry dual carriageway and as it comes on boost in 2nd the back snaps and he tries to correct, gets into a slide and drives it straight over the central reservation with a nice big curb. Hardly going any speed either.

To be fair that's why I have kept my Subaru JDM as a wet day car

Also the comp pack has improved the traction and handling over the 2015 M4 I test drove.

Will need to change our M3 by October 2017, and nothing floats the boat at the moment other than the Comp pack car.
Really don't like the drive of the one I've got so does the comp pack really make a difference to the suspension?

The standard ride is bloody awful whether in sport or comfort.

Said I wouldn't have another M3, but the wife won't entertain any other brand in this segment.
I'd quite happily look at Merc 43 AMG or even an Audi if the steering / ride has been sorted on those.

My issue with the comp pack though - those bloody wheels are awful.
Hideous design.

I really would give a M3 with comp pack a test drive, I found it night and day compared to the early M4 I drove. I disliked it that much I purchased an M135i instead. On test driving the M3 comp I was blown away and did the deal on my M3 that day and picked it up a few days later . I'm over the moon with it, Ref the wheels they are Marmite you either love them or hate them.

Do you mean the handling is crap from an enthusiast point of view or just in general. Is it overall bad for a daily driver.

I've had a 330d for the past 4 years / 85000 miles and I'm just fed up with the lack of traction on all but dry days.
There are many cars out there which I would seriously consider as a replacement but I forget them in an instant if they don't have awd which leaves my options fairly limited!
