Klarus G20 or like Ven recommended the brilliant Olight R50 Pro, both very floody and both USB rechargeable. So can be topped up with powerpack on the move.

If you want to restart the reactor the 9000 lumen Olight X7 will do the job and easily fit in a coat pocket.

The cheaper Olight S2R is just about middle finger size and is considerably bright for its size. Nice tint too. Also USB rechargeable.

I go up to £50 so the S2R looks like a winner.

This is actually for going inside reactor 5. It was never finished so never had it's core installed.

This is completely pitch black. Death-trap.

Is the Elephant's foot still there? Accessible?

It's still there but you can't go in - least not unless you know the right people/have deep enough pockets. And even then, it's not like it was. Everything is mega official there now.

The picture is of Reactor 5 which wasn't finished and was of a different design. It was No4 that exploded. There was plans to build up to 8 and the area would have been the largest nuclear power facility in Europe/World.

We get to go inside and have a look at the control room for No2 and have a look at the turbine room. Dosimeters go berserk as soon as you go in the turbine room.

That is super cool!! would love to go exploring around there(at night)...........
Big vast dark areas eat up lumens fast, you need a m43vn

Slip in pocket, when needed unleash up to 11k lumens

They are on offer at mtn electronics for a bargain right now(classed as a modded light anyway tbh)
http://www.mtnelectronics.com/index....product_id=505

Usual retail is around the $200 depending on specs, the nichia 219C would make a good choice.

That X65vn has an horrible beam. Big disappointed, and shame on you Acebeam advertising 12,000 Lumens.

Need it in NW flavour, the CW xhp35 HI are too cool /blue=

Multi reflector lights always give petals, deeper they are the more obvious on the outer beam. I think the x65vn has lots of potential in the neutral white(5000k). Still it has competition from my rc40vnT, 8000lm and 500kcd is more than ample for my uses. 5000k neutral i have, gives some nice colours rather than washed out crap from 6500k LED's.

But having 6 wells/reflectors, you get the petals on the outer edge still. Bith these pics are the same rc40vnT, yet you can see a colour difference, This is obviously the phone , so you have to take beam pics(or vids) with a pinch of salt as you know. For a start the camera will be overwhelmed so auto balances down, then depending on settings, can make it appear more washed out than it is. I always say its about 30% of what i see. In real life it is far more impressive, where its dark you can usually see things. As you have done vids/pics you will know what i mean Matt. Lot more impressive to the eye than on a camera.

The x65vn offers over 6000lm of long run time, where other lights struggle, you will get well over an hour at high output without too much heat issue. 12k is great, but only for a few mins before it gets too warm and has to step down or be stepped down. The specs are impressive, for one it is the furthest throwing high output LED light available.............not to be sniffed at.

Catch is, to get the high output you need more than 1 LED as your maxed out today with around 5000lm(xhp70 and that is no thrower due to being a quad die). Also it needs an orange peel reflector to smooth out the + in the beam(normal trait for quad dies)which eats kcd. The reason behind these from CREE is simply the xpl can not be pushed past 1200lm max and thats over driven and technology is not there yet. So to get the high output, they simply fit 4 dies on a board to quadruple the output. I presume the xhp70 is 4 xpl's(xpl is pretty much an xml2 on a small foot print which are great for triples/quads, to fit in the optics)

Digressing a bit now

Last night I was at a huge party in a marquee and when it got to the point everyone was pissed I placed an Orange Fruit shoot bottle on top of my concealed 7,000+ Lumen TN36UT, hit turbo and the rest is history.

"I love magic" was the first response.

Is there a single XHP70 floody torch on the market that takes one 18650 battery? I'd love a S2R sized one that could hit 1500+ genuine lumens. Probably only be 40 seconds before step down but a great 40 seconds!

I was nearly sold by the small "1600 lumen Manker E14" but tests seem to be pointing closer to 1000 lumens.

Closest is the nitecore tm03 , but its on the larger side of 18650

The large quad die xhp70 comes to life shaved dome, also an orange peel reflector.

I have a vestureofblood xhp70 SD in a surefire m2(not bored so takes 2x 16340 cells in this light). If i used a bored surefire(for 18650) then it would take 2x 18350 cells for the req 8.4v to feed it. Its a real flood power house, around 3000lm+ from the 16340's, if used a 26650 host x2, then 4000+ is achievable.
Or the cooly on the left is a 26650 host, can feed the xhp70 drop in on 2 x 26350 cells

It is 18650 size, but orignally took 2x cr123 cells for military use. Can take a 16650 cell instead, but cant go more than 5a from the sanyo cell.................and not enough V anyway for this led.

Other option would be the acebeam ec50 II or olight r50 pro , yes 26650 fed but a compact light all the same and surprisingly comfy in hand.............imo better than 18650 in a few ways, more run time, better girth for comfort. Also built in USB charging.

I've considered the Pro but my Pop can lights beat it and both fit in a coat pocket, I like the fact the S2R is the size of a middle finger and can fit in a jeans pocket but its circa 1100 lumens is just a little short of that daylight effect.

Anyone got any Armytek lights? I have a predator in warm white and it's beautifully made.

On the subject.. Ven, what's the current daddy of the single emitter, single 18650 lights? I like my lights to have a bit of throw too. I have a Thrunite TN11 which has a nice beam for me but would like something now with some more wow factor

Or this, you want option B and ideally drivervn, defo engraved v54 for the final personal touch!

Thanks.

I wish I'd not seen his website now haha!

I think I may have seen that chap on candle power a few years ago? I haven't been on there for a long time as it was a very hostile place thanks to the moderation.

I think the nitecore MH20gt looks pretty good for a stock light after watching some vids last night.

I thought that to, but its changes and you get used to how its run. When i first joined it took a while to post, then thought *beep* it, who cares if i ask a stupid question or look thick..............do i luk bovered..........nope

Now its kind of like home and many ask me the questions(and more) to what i did, yet i treat a newbie like an old timer, all with respect.........simple philosophy .

Here pretty much the same in not posting, not modded the wrx as see not really much point. Been there in the past from fiesta turbos, cosworth, 200sx s14a etc.......Now i just want reliability and ok performance. Honestly dont care for a huge turbo with lots of lag to make it a pita for the drives i do(no tracks for one)

Would be easier to just get an sti rather than spend on a wrx...........Keep pondering a map, done the zaust and filter and pondering the sti up pipe(got the gaskets and resistor ready in case). But i dont want lights thrown up, is it worth the benefit/ball ache of swapping as something will go wrong..........if it aint broke dont fix it mind set............see with my OCD as usually it pecks away inside to i give in and get done. Also 3 yrs is the magic time, gets sold or modded and i am just over 2yrs. Alloy refurb to an anthracite is also on the cars but holding back till spring............Problem with me is once i start i can not stop! so basically i am trying not to start Besides 280 or whatever + hp on the m60 with 50mph limits , busy traffic everywhere around makes it even more pointless...............I know for a fact, the benefit/feel of the extra horses lasts a day or so then becomes the norm, then becomes the want for more..............

Ideally if i could find someone to map it at home who has the software it would have been done, i dont want to be paying £400+ out being honest. A nice 260 ish would be fine for my use and keep it drive-able for the better .

I digress as always............

Have you seen vinhs new vids on the rc40vn40, nice $1500 for 40k lumens...........
Might be getting the x65vn in neutral white at some point, good all rounder and a beast.............i like big lights as they can handle heat. But convenience for EDC stuff, small is key or it just gets left at home!
This i am really loving right now

Beam/tint is stunning, very very bright for its size too, even in 18350 form(usually struggle past 5 or 6a and only 600mah).

x65vn vid(its long but typical vinh)
Few vids here, for those who are not really into lights wont like or be interested though, so for maybe the odd 1 who is, a link here
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCjj...vXC2dyTrn9CyMQ

Maybe try again James, see how you get on. Its a pretty good place to be, trolls are not tolerated but its not as bad as it was previous.

My only comments here are either on this thread or vaping, not much i can add mod wise............and i dont like asking questions i know have been asked 1000's of times, even though i cant find a good enough answer ! Too many contradictions from google searching, i like to know fact before i start modding. Its my work and school run bus, so i dont want it sat on the drive with a blackpool illumination dash!

Lights, i use them more in the day at work than at night ironically. Me and my little one go on adventures, take usually a sports bag of lights! (he has over 30!). I like my edc lights as the best light you have is the one with you...........

What people will pay is crazy, take a talented guy called Jeff Hanko(check his facebook page out) These are exotic metals like mokume gane, these vary in cost, but a minimum of $1800 to............well and thats each!
Twisted tridents, gunner grips........tritium vials are extra $$$
At least $10k, probably closer to $15k

Its an amazing world, Jim who loves his one of custom knives..............well $12k is not unheard of for a knife!!!! Check some of mr skeltons out

But this guy is a cool dude, i mean anyone who drives a green SRT hellcat and by now would have spent just the $3000 required to get it in the 9's ...1/4 mile.............

So although its well out of my depth, makes me feel normal all the same

Going Gear advertised a fairly compact 1650 lumen Eagtac T25L-R last night that runs on 1 18650, Eagtac website lists it at 2000 lumens. Can't wait to see a vid.

I love the modded lights with tritium.

One of my favourite lights is my sunwayman V10R titanium with the variable magnetic ring. I actually bought a load of green and blue trits to fit into the head going through the fins. I drilled one of the holes myself and **ck me it took forever so I went to a professional engineering company.. they drilled one hole pissed and handed it back to me giving up So it's only got two trits. Would like to find someone confident enough to drill the rest I have marked out.

looks great James, Trits certainly add to the appeal of the current torch revolution.

Just a shame green is the brightest vial!

Love a bit of tritium. Got them on my keys and gun parts that could get lost in the field.

I didn't even know what it was years ago and I had a tritium keyring that came on a set of Impreza keys funnily enough. Was only years later I found out it was tritium. I must have had that fob at least 10years and it's still happily radiating away!

Cool stuff guys, i have a pair of trits here and there(feel free to re-read that)

Handy for stuff in the dark, keep pondering a watch with tritium as i think they are super cool.

Nice v10r there, classic! and a very popular one for the modders. I have its baby brother the v11r mirage, has a nichia 219C inside instead of the too cool xml u3

Love the infinite control ring UI, very useful for dialing up/down on the go...........can get tiresome clicking through modes!

Tritium seems to have gone up by the looks of the pricing on Vinh's website?

V11r looks great there, Have you stripped and rebuilt it yourself Ven?

Biggest issue with mine was making it feel the same again! As standard the ring was silky smooth but firm. The titanium is awful for feeing gritty when moving against itself. I have ended up using blue non setting silicone on mine to try and get that firm smooth feel, still not as good though.

My V10R is my bedside cabinet light. I'm thinking your bedside cabinet is overflowing with various 'night stand' lights Ven?!

This thread is gonna cost me a fortune!

I have just bought two nitecore Tip lights "for the kids" and wow, they're pretty bloody cool aren't they?! My local FFX tool place seems to sell Nitecore lights, seems rather strange but they get them in next day for you. Was quite surprised to see that from a shop here.

Ven, the Deep Blue watches did a range with Tritium. I'm sure you've seen all these..
