Well I finally got round to watching TWD this morning and I have to say I agree with Bioforger. That was a pretty good episode, it made for a real contrast between how easily Negan broke (the increasingly unstable) Rick and the harder time he's having with Daryl (who lets be honest is hard as nails).

He threatened to have Rick cut off his sons arm, compared to some loud music, lack of sleep and a few beatings .. doesn't even come close to comparable.

I think it's acceptable to see Rick break but Daryl not.
Rick has Carl so that is always going to make him vulnerable.
Just because Daryl will stand till he's killed doesn't make him "better". Just makes him who he is. Without Rick in the beginning, Daryl is more likely to become one of The Saviours than working with Rick to defend Alexandria or similar.
Rick is a better leader. He loses the plot a few times in the comics. The comics are more like a soap set in a Zombie world.
