Local Council elections are entirely different to the GE.

Look at the UKIP results a few years back; they won council seats but nowt in the GE.

 

I suspect a GE now will just result in a hung parliament, so unless HM The Queen invites Labour plus whoever to form a coalition, we will be in exactly the same mess we are in at the moment. I suspect he only real viable options are revoke or no deal, one of those will cause huge unrest, the other will ruin the economy, what a choice!

 

The only pragmatic approach given where we are is another referendum...I can't see what the leave camp have to fear if they have the support they believe they do.

It says in the news today that Boris won't accept an offer from the EU. Is this the loophole he is looking for, that although Parliament has forced him to ask for an extension if no deal is agreed, the wording of the bill is such that it does not explicitly state he has to accept the offer of an extension if the EU agrees to his demands?

i was watching an interview with david davies a couple of days ago, he has a very different opinion even in the event of a no deal. short version the negatives have been massively over egged.

 

It's all unknown Tidgy, nobody knows how negative the negatives are so it's all anecdotes. The only the facts are we lose trade deals...

No idea...and nobody else really has either, its all just guess work but you can be sure as hell there will be no net gain for the populous at large for a number of years and it may never offset the immediate impact. Except of course if you are rich...

This doesn't make any sense at all. No deal means WTO rules, which we have to abide by as a member of the WTO, no favourites, no exemptions, so all of our trade will have the same tariff. If you are saying that we will unilaterally reduce our tariffs across the whole shooting match, and at the same time hoping the world will do the same to us, then that seems rather optimistic. Sure we will potentially have very cheap imports, but will have no power over our exports, our economy will be at the mercy of foreign countries, our industry (what is left of it) will be out competed by cheap imports!
