Anyone know what battery these take? Mine is knackered but it’s all in Japanese...all I know is that it’s small!

Edit - gone for this bad boy, which is meant for Kia Picantos. Seems to be the beefiest battery that will fit the tray!

Edited - battery I bought fits and works ok.

They seem very similar, so hopefully the one I’ve ordered will do the same job

Looking good. I originally imported this a couple of years back. Had a carbon twin plate clutch at the time, electronic boost controller etc

As most of you know, the car has gone through some transformation again.

Truth be told. I think I went too far with it. Turned it into something, that I really didnt want. Or im just getting old

Car been put back to more of standard setup, minus the power side of things. Ive removed the buckets, harness belts, coilovers, the newage wheels, basically anything that made it too aggressive and not usable. At times I felt I couldn't really use the vehicle. It had become too raw and uncomfortable for my liking. Also what drove me to keeping it more standard, was the possibility of the future value being affected. I just prefer original things in life. Now its a clean tidy genuine fine example of a hawkeye spec c type ra.

So so far ive bought and put back in:
Original Spec c seats
Original seat belts
Original JDM pink struts and springs
Original BBS alloys and tyres
Original bonnet brand new + insulation and clips etc
Original wing mirrors
Original steering wheel + retrimmed
New number plate
Process west intercooler
Rebuilt hybrid VF36 - the full works
RCM induction kit
remap, dyno's @ 390bhp.

Ive driven and owned alot of top end german motors. BUT nothing spools and pulls like this bugger! The drive is insane and that original suspension is so much more capable than I imagined. Im now at a place where I feel the car should have been. I went from one extreme to another. Buts its now more comfortable and more driveable than before.

BIG thanks to TDR Warwick. Mark has the up most patience when he has to put up with me and my specifics He is a top guy!

Ive missed anything I will update later. Some proper photoshoot pics to follow soon.

oh, very cool to see you actually went down the hybrid VF36 route! We talked briefly on the hybrid VF36 thread.

Very interested to hear some info on the rebuild, i.e. what sort of compressor wheel has been used? Have they clipped the turbine wheel?
What kind of peak torque does it make, got a dyno sheet maybe?

TBH I was thinking you went a bit far on the cosmetic side but that’s just me, really don’t like canards (
or whatever they are called) bonnet vents etc but hey that’s just me. Cars looking good and as you say standard will help with the value in time to come.

Yes indeed pal. There are various turbo options. But the VF36 is standard to this car. So best thing was to use an original item and make it better. The results speak for them-self. I will looking tnto the specifics of what exactly was done. I do have a dyno sheet will add later.

Difficult to say. Original dyno was low on power. We had a wiring issue and it was on standard tmic and airbox. I got the process west intercooler at a bargain price! given they are almost £1k new shipped in. Then my thoughts turned to the restricted airbox, so we changed that to an RCM kit. Heat obviously makes a difference. We dynod it orignally on a hot summers day. Last dyno was last week when things were cooler.

I agree, Hence why I revereted back to original. That taste just wasn't to my liking. Appreciation in value is nice and steady.

Less is more, definitely. Also agree that hybridizing oem turbo is the way to go. I'm aiming to do this on the vf53 on my hatch, so would be very interested to hear details on who did the turbo work.

Thank you mate. Its an on going journey of passion. For now I think all is good. I might get hit with the power bug again, but now its got plenty of power. Ive currently parked my daily up, and enjoying this for now till the weather changes. I might do some subtle carbon additions and maybe change the suspension setup again. Other than that, maintain and get it detailed really.

On the hunt soon for another scooby soon.. To add not replace.
