Just need a big spoiler and some Sti fog covers and it will go loads faster then lol ,, only joking , looks a lovely motor and hope you enjoy it , at least you have learned what this place can be like when you ask a question ,, doesn't matter what you ask ,one way or another someone will go back to the old Sti vs Wrx debate somewhere in the thread lol

Quick question, what petrol should I be using? My local places don't seem to have super unleaded anymore?

The WRX is probably less sensitive to fuel as an sti but I would still recommend you use v power/tesco99, better safe than sorry

v power is a better fuel, but tesco 99 is a good alternitive,

if and when you get it mapped, the mapper can map it to any fuel, so if you struggle to get high octaine, they can do it on normal 95ron.

looks a clean example, ive had a few versions of impreza and must admit the wrx gearbox is very suited to day to day driving. my only concern were the brakes, but as ditchy said they can be massively improved,

enjoy it bud

Great info, thanks
We are going on a recon later to see what's about. In our closest town to us only has a morrisons or a texaco. Other than that the next biggest town is further away but has tesco and lots of others.

The sti and wrx are different cars with different good/bad points.

So, it's ok for the haters to hate, but not ok for defenders to defend?????
Who help him out most? the wrx haters with irrelevent info or you should buy an sti! or the few people that actually read his posts and listened to what HE wanted?

Anyway gayallen, what model Subaru is your OAPmobile Honda?

texaco 97 is fine, but bp 97ron was not liked by subaru engines a few years ago

In the handbook the wrx is rated at 95ron, but I'd recommend a higher ron for a piece of mind.

if a texaco isn't far way and you are considering a remap, you should get a good increase in bhp and drivability. You could also have it remapped for 95 ron and then you don't have to worry about where you fill up

The texaco is in my local town (about 6 miles away). The closest shell is about 20 miles. Not to bad. I live in a very rural area. In a village where we have a small shop and pub. Have to travel just to do any decent shopping. Most road around me are small A road, B roads and lots of unclassified roads. Bringing out the Colin McRae in me lol

It will be fine on Texaco 97 fuel, for sure. It's not the "best" fuel out there, but at least you know that if you have it mapped on 97 RON, you'll be able to fill it up almost anywhere, which is particularly important if you're out and about in the country side.

The car looks great btw, and I also love the WRXs - I've got one in bits in the garage and had a bug eye wagon before, and they drive lovely compared to a lot of other cars in the mid range section.

Yes, it has FSH, 51000miles. Very clean and tidy car inside and out. New exdy clutch, new shocks, new brakes (discs and pads). All belts changed at 40000. it has been well looked after looking through the the invoices.

Looks and sounds as though you've got a good one there. Is it the SL version with Prodrive Pack you've got?

No didn't really want leather. We've got it in my wife's car (and had it before). Leather is great, except when it's sunny. It gets very hot. Got a job to sit down some days.
And it's only got the prodrive exhaust. Im thinking about a remap, but unsure yet.

I'd drive the car for a couple of months as it is then decide if you want it mapped. You'll maybe decide that it's quick enough as it is? I've the PPP version and see no need to go chasing anymore horsepower as I don't fully use what it has already. You polished and waxed it yet?

You can find the low mileage ones, but not many about. Sounds like a good one
