Next Prime Minister
the very definition of a snake oil salesmen
I for one could see straight through him
it was clear that it was that article that did it for him (sorry lots of thats)
his erstwhile supporter had a big WTF moment - as he is obviously delusional
chanting "is he alcazar in disguise" :-)
And why should they not be believed? Do you have some conflicting source?
but I did actually

This one? It reads like the writings of someone trying to sell the result of renegotiations on the UKs position within the EU rather than someone who less than a week ago was passionate about leaving completely.
I reckon he has done the best thing by pulling out. He'd never have won. That would have been a tragedy for him; caused by all the jeopardies combined. Now he has some time to repair his reputation until the next general election. Let's see if he does it or do we think he's finished?
And what he did believe in didn't do so well. He believed in being the most likeable baby face on this planet, but that got proven wrong. Double jeopardy, if we include his non-belief and his shattered yes-belief. Also, he didn't believe that TM would EVER hold more credibility than him, for the contest. Well, that proved wrong as well. Triple jeopardy.

So, who all are contesting, then? About 10 of them, aren't they? I mean, why are that many so desperate to become a PM? Christ! First deed they'll have to do is face the EU panel after that Farage giving such a bad picture of the contemporary Britain to them.
I couldn't face the EU panel after F's embarrassing performance up there.

Farage is nothing to do with the Tories and they are not responsible for his embarrassing behaviour, even the EU crew will know that. It's nothing new, he's been behaving that way for years.
TM has all the credentials for PM, certainly more than Boris or the awful Gove. Remainer or Leaver doesn't matter now, they're all starting from scratch. They are getting a much easier ride with Labour in such total disarray. Corbyn couldn't do the Tory party more favours if they'd bribed him.

Yes, I did say that TM is the most suitable candidate. Her strong voice alone sends shivers through the bent spines of the masses.
Greens have called for a pro-remain centre-left coalition against the tories in a general election today! Would be interesting if they did! The idea is to beat the FPTP system and ensure the tories don't win!
If I remember correctly, there were a few on here who joined Labour last year specifically to vote for Mr Corbyn so that Labour would never get back into power. If a lot of his other 'supporters' did the same, no wonder he's so popular with them.
The trouble is, we really do need a strong opposition party to ensure our democracy continues, and at present, we seem to be lacking one.

You really believe it all, don't you? And what's more, you and a few others on here are LOVING all the doom and gloom. Yet you DON'T seem to see that all the problems so far are being caused by the self same people who sank the economy before...making money.
Keep it up...it's the British establishment way, don't y' know?

Ah, OK, it's all a disaster, we're all doooomed, no way back, us Brexiters have ruined everything, we are now at war with Europe, interest rates will rise.......LOL

Presumably if the country goes into a recession (mild or severe) which most experts (from business leaders, to economist to bankers) seems to agree
It will be our collective problem for not "believing"
It reminds me of the "belief" we have in the our national football team
All goes well until we hit the rock of reality - which can be as formidable as Iceland

What I'm seeing

What SHOULD I be seeing?
The remainers stopping their whining and doom-mongering and rolling up their sleeves working with the rest of the country for the best scenario.
Everyone knows that you can talk a country into recession...well the media and you lot are doing a damned good job of it.

Still, at least then you can smile smugly and say, "I told you so!"

I joined in this thread because I thought it was about the new PM and purposely left the EU thread because that had run its course and had just degenerated into " told you so" and " he/she did this, did that" argument.
But now this thread is going the same way with all the posters from the EU one selling the same lines.
Honestly, make your mind up you lot
On the subject of the new PM, I see my prediction that Boris was not suitable has come true ( for the time being- I haven't ruled him out of a return at a later date ) and have TM down as the favourite. Which seems to be the favourite in the latest snap poll.
Whichever way it goes, its going to be a tough first day in the job. I can just see the first meeting's agenda.
9:05 - Start- meet and greet
9:15 - Brexit- Article 50- what the **** to do
9:30 - Coffee and biscuits ( only biscuits from UK manufacturers, no foreign muck )
9:50 - carry on brexit discussions
ad infinitum

Think accepting the job of England manager is easier ( though the similarities between managing a bunch of no-hopers and the cabinet is striking )
From what little I know about any of them, TM seems to be the most level headed and trustworthy, and as things stand would be my choice for PM.
(Disclaimer:- please bear in mind this remark must be tempered with the knowledge that she is still a politician and should therefore be deemed as essentially untrustworthy and liable to exhibit actions of impropriety and self-serving indiscretion).
What am I expecting?

All we can do at the end of the day is carry on as is on the basis so far very little has actually changed.
