Does texting devalue the seriousness of a conversation?

Sometimes, one can be lost for words upon conveying something serious verbally, whereas writing/typing can enable them to express a serious message. Prolonging the text interchange on a serious matter can also be
because one can pour your heart out to you on texts, but speech could limit their expression.

I'd imagine living on a boat in Kashmir could be cold!
I found out a friend /associate /customer has been shipwrecked off Madagascar , the boat (Ramprasad) is lost but they are ok
Didn't realise , his first boat by same name was local wooden trawler he did up in Chapora, Goa and sailed it solo to Australia.

Mate mine still lives aboard, he's bit hoarder and can't resist bargain, there's hardly anywhere sit down despite getting bigger boat And a store ashore.
He's got half dozen phones, hardly ever texts unless it's free, Scottish see.

I've only got one mobile phone (another one strictly for work) and always a place for others to sit in my house, so I don't qualify for your friend's category. I've been into some houses like that, though. One texted a charity one day, to take it all away as a donation. The charity representative came along, inspected the guy's gear and told him to get a skip instead. Since then, this man just keeps texting different charities to clear out his hoardings. At least he's ready for it.
