Ha. I too have got those all-important, beers'n'snax in place... So as to cushion the inevitable, projected heartache?

No chance, we will win tonight, the only way we lose is if we bottle it on penalties but in reality it shouldn't come to that.

On anothe Note Italy are all over Spain... Think Italy got this

I really don't understand his sterling obsession he has had two chances in this tournament and been crap. I'm not a fan of banana but he has played well.

Although it's a knockout game I can see Iceland sitting back Slovakia style going for penalties.

England's inability to finish and break teams down could cost them.

Oh and don't start me on Henderson....

Apart from the Ireland game which to be fair, they were all ready through.....They have been one of the best teams in this tournament.

Spain were utterly toothless in that game. They all looked too up themselves as if they just expected they would win it.

Well, it would be funny if it weren't so tragic.

The problem lies within english football, namely at the feet of the FA (who are these people ?, certainly not football people) who keep either appointing foreign managers, or complete losing english managers. The other main problem is flooding the prem with foreign players therefore not allowing young english players to develop and give us a stronger England team. Half of the squad were either not match fit, or weren't playing in the 1st team at there own clubs. The tatics as usual were non exsistent and players were played out of position etc etc etc. The previous occasions l enjoyed watching England were under the reign's of messers Venables and the Hoddle, were at least the football was easy on the eye. In other countries failure is meet with the sack, hear its rewarded with a new contract.

I can see three problems right now.

1. The FA are a bunch of stuffed shirts who always appoint the wrong man. They are more about money than winning things.

2. Hodgson was an appalling manager with no bottle to resist the media and no idea of his best team.

3. Rooney is no midfielder, he had little idea what to do with the ball last night, and most of his passes were either wasted or just plain silly. Hopefully, he's played his last game in an England shirt.

Old Woy hung himself

Insisted on playing Sterling, Kane was shot to pieces all tournament and even Rooney was pap last night.

The players have to take a lot of the flack/responsibility as well as Woy

I though Woy was a disgrace as soon as the final whistle blew he shock hands with his opposite number and then turned and fooked straight off down the tunnel leaving his players on the pitch, not a consoling hand on the shoulder for anyone.

He has been the worst England manager I can remember and tactically utterly inept. I never understood his appointment in the first place other than he was English

I really don't have a name to mind that could walk in now and take over and sort this mess out. It has to be someone who is tactically sound above anything else. I don't agree it has to be someone English as I find that just odd, it should be the best manager available no matter where he is from.

Alan Pardew was a name thrown up by the media but I think he'd be mad to throw away what he is doing at Palace.

I agree with the above though the last decent England manager I can remember is Venables.

He ran off to write his resignation speech and forget about any of his players.

Alan shearer said he applied for the job 5 years ago but was told he'd not got enough experience.

To me it seems experience isn't all that, nor is the foreign manager route as it's been tried and failed.
Let him have a crack at it I say, he can't do any worse than Roy.

I don't think the blame can be layed on the players, a single player can have a bad game every now and then as seen in jack Wilshire, sometimes he can be superb but he can also have a shocker without an identifiable reason. Same for Kane, sterling, sturridge etc, but it's up to the manager to spot when to make changes and bring subs on.

Rashford and vardy should have started at the beginning of the second half.
They should have changed to 4-4-2 as Iceland were and tried to pull every man behind the ball when it was in our half to catch them on the break.
Simple and very effective.

Roy has them trying quick short passes to break them down but when they have 8 men in and around the 18 yard box there simply isn't enough space for vardy to unleash his pace and too easy for them to defend, hence England giving the ball away too much and making ridiculous mistakes and fumble.

The fundamentals are there in the players, they just need a different philosophy.

Maybe look at the coaching system...

Appoint a manager who is able to deal with the media etc.

Appoint a head coach who has proven international experience/success and whose only job is to coach and be responsible for team strategy. Someone like Jurgen Klinsmann springs to mind.

He's done ok with the USA team and he wouldn't be the manager, just head coach.

I truly believe the players don't give a $hit and that international football is just a chore to them. They will now head home to their multi million pound mansions, high maintenance WAGS and toss it off for a couple of days until the dust settles then head off to the Caribbean for a holiday most of us could only dream about.

As for Hodgson, that **** has basically stole a living for the last 4 years and the difference between him getting the job over Redknapp 4 years ago was he was prepared to suck off each and every member of the English FA and anything else they wanted and so will Southgate in order to get the job!
