Well, I have ordered one too!!!
Looked at a lot of cars over the last few days, and the M2 wins in most departments for me.
Looked at the Focus RS, the RS3, The 718 Cayman S, the V8 Mustang and the A45. All nice cars, but the M2 has the edge. Just a shame they but a 4 cylinder engine in the Cayman, if it was a 6 I think I would have gone for that, quite a bit more sportier to drive than the M2 IMO, and hardly any wait time for the car!
Only thing is, the ride of the M2 has been described as pretty hard in most reviews I have read. Not really an issue for me as pretty much all performance cars I have owned have hard rides! Just a shame adaptive suspension was not an option on this car.
I've not had a confirmed date yet as it was only ordered on Tuesday, but the salesman said between 7 to 14 months!! They are going to be long months!! As long as it arrives before April 2017, I am happy, got a ring trip all booked up for me and a mates 40th birthday!
In the meantime, I will be selling my Type R to help fund the M2 purchase, and of course the Akrapovič exhaust that will be going on it almost immediately after delivery!

Talking of which, the ride in the M2 is pretty compliant as far as I am concerned, miles better than the AMG.
If you just want a weekend car, there might well be better options, but I've been pleasantly surprised at what a great all rounder the M2 is, pretty much a perfect daily driver.

You could always get a Cayman GTS, a wise investment if you ask me. Having had a couple of flat 6 Porsches, I think it's a great engine, better even than the V8 I had in my C63!

The M2 will be used as a daily from around March to October, then I use my SF5 Forester Turbo during the other months. Far too much crap on the roads around here at this time of the year.
Can the Cayman GTS be purchased from new via a Porsche dealer? Couldn't find it on the Porsche website.

No, but there are usually a few on the Porsche used site - but be prepared to pay near to list for a low mileage 12 month old car! Can't imagine you'd lose much on one in the near term though.

Its a bit mehhhh isn't it long stuff
Seriously pleased for you; its been nigh on three years of umming and ahhing about what to buy! Be careful over the next few days, all the E9x M3s I drove went sideways at the drop of a hat even with the TC switched on. Its gonna be nasty weather round our way

Couldn't of picked a worse time of year for it to of arrived. Not to worry I'll be extra careful and if it's really bad I'll take the van.

Good looking car, I got my 2016 M135i in June you will love it. Anything other than a dry road you will miss the grip of a Subaru but they handle rather than grip. Does it have the N55 or have they started fitting them with the B58 yet ?.

That looks awesome!
I test drove a 2015 135i yesterday and I was very impressed on how that went and stopped - the M2 must be even better!
Going to test a 2016 M235i later today - as I prefer the look of the coupe over the 1 series
We have mainly dry roads here - so rwd traction is not generally an issue.
I don't envy M2 drivers in the current UK weather!
Cheers
