so at £1100 complete with 65000 miles it feels like i stole it
So far intercooler has been taken off and sold, clutch and fly wheel stripped off along with alternator, aircon, steering pump. Next step is to take both manifolds off and clean/modify, turbo off and look out for something to run around 400bhp (sc36?)

You won't see 400bhp on a SC36,the bhp is all in the model number i.e "36" meaning 360bhp or a tad more,i would look for a SC42 with the right supporting mods will hit 400bhp+ allday, just make sure your car brakes are matched to cope with the added power,so you can stop the thing.SJ.

thanks, was on ebay, was just there at the right time
thats interesting as i have seen someone buy one being told they will get 400 from a 36, time will tell there! ill keep an eye out for a 42 then! brakes are pretty good on this one, but maybe a fresh set of pads would be on the cards to make sure

so the strip down continued
turbo off
headers
intake off and strip down
so a large shopping list is to begin along with cleaning up the old bits, to the remaining engine im going to put a new sump on, and a cambelt / water pump swap.
what are peoples opinions on how to paint the intake?
also headers, turbo and injectors are all for sale

havnt updated this in a while, not a huge amount has been done but getting closer to building the engine up, so far i have;
-MDX555-400
-reflowed 565 injectors (to 800cc)
-williams motorsport headers
-re furbed the inlet and header tank
list still needed
-timing kit
-gaskets
-fuel pump
-3 port boost solenoid
-sump (im being picky the old one looks a bit rough)
But i do have anothers year mot it
some photos anyway!
attempted to clean the manifold first but the paint just started lifting
so re painted
also did the header tank and a few brackets
headers
couple random photos
Got hold of a front mount kit so wanted to get the cooler fitted up ready for the rest to go on, but no wondering if it will make much difference and if i should stay with the top mount?

First off car is booked into slow boy racing for the 16th of june for mapping so thought i better crack on with getting it ready
ill just let the photos do the talking again
just the pumps to swap over from the original engine when it gets pulled out next weekend
also the car got new discs and pads on the front, as well as a set of hsd coilovers- need to get some photos of the car as it currently sits
some of you wont like the banner, but i love it

Looks like it's coming along nicely
2 questions , has the inlet manifold maintained its red colour as people say it comes up quite orange'y ??
And I can see your running hsd's that's my other dilemma. How harsh would you say your ride is

Ok thanks I'm just struggling to get a decent colour match for the earlier inlet manifolds as later cars have a much brighter red
Yeh I think I'm going to go coilees in the end
Car looks smart mate

Well it's time to get this swap started, this weekend consisted of pulling the old engine, gave it a good examine, no play in the turbo everything tight and clean, superb condition for 120,000 miles!
Then the bay was cleaned up a little, which lead me to find my power steering issue, the return pipe had rubbed through! I had already purchased a new pump and steering rack so the full system is now being swapped, rack was swapped, now just waiting on the lines to arrive so I can carry on the swap! Couple photos any way

engine going in,
had to do some trimming to clear the headers
all bolted up
255 swapped with the 320
and all sorted!
on the mapping day there were a few issues, Neil didnt have the software to re code the sti ecu without matching transponder or key so we just ran the wrx ecu with a safe 1.4 bar of boost, without the AVCS heads. even like this we made 352 bhp and 298 ft/lb
will be going back in the next month or so with the final bits to get the lag down and hopefully push the power up a little more
