I was looking at photos from there the other day, some fascinating images of decay and damage, as sad as it may seem it would be quite a place to visit.
The town we stay in when we visit has playgrounds on almost every corner. It's noticeable how many there are. In a country where the state chooses when the heating comes on it seems odd they have these yet every one of our councils throughout the UK seems hell bent on removing playgrounds.
We are told that living in the USSR was awful and the population was oppressed but if they were so oppressed why would they have summer camps with each hut having lovingly painted pictures from children's stories. Having said that the standard of living was quite high in Pripyat.
If you have any interest in exploration then I would recommend this place. I've been twice and will probably go again.
