Tyres.... Prices for Scoobynetters....

i thought it was too good to be true BUT how can i tell if the tyres are made for the uk market or for abroad ,is their a e mark on it somewhwere or something.it does say they are made in germany-are they that different to uk spec?

As far as I know the UK market has there spec tyre/rubber....
Best to ask the person selling them where they buy from etc... (question out of interest as well - i.e. how comes you guys can offer great discounts etc.)
Some places reckon they spray them with a compound that makes them UK friendly... but been told that is a crock of ****...
As far as I have been told.. you will see less mileage and less grip out of these tyres... but if you only plod around then you wont notice the performance differences. If I had a 1.4 clio then I would buy the cheapest I could get.... regardless of where they came from... With the Scoob I need the best as I like to push at times and my life is worth more than 5-10 more per tyre....
Pay the price and take the risk????? thats up to you

Cheers Plantie and John. I got two of the new F1s fitted today and I think I might have even beaten your quote!!!!!!!! Winston is getting "tyred" of fitting the 40mil tyres as they are a "bu66er" to get on the wheel.
Thanks again

Middlesex Tyres (W.London) quoted me £80+VAT for F1s (215/40 R17). I went for Toyos though, which came to £400 for 4, incl valves, fitting and VAT from Wembly Tyres, who actually had them in stock - I hate having to order stuff, wait, make appointments, etc. Good service too, funny (ha,ha) bunch of lads.

plantie regarding the goodyears not being uk spec.-i spoke to goodyear uk and they told me that as long as the tyre has a e in a circle on the side of the tyre it is uk/european spec[same thing] and most of the manufacturing is in fact in germany not uk.i certianly would never skimp on tyres thats why i went for the best i could afford.

Cool.... I know what you mean life is more important than £10 per corner
A lot of dealers buy in from outside Europe making it cheaper, but with lack of quality which very few know about As you say just look for the circle with the E

Four new F1s on order (out of stock but should be here in 10 days or so)
Plantie thanks for publishing this.
Fantastic prices, this really is the sort of thing that community sites are all about.
Sorry we don't see more of it on Scoobynet.
I'll drop in with a smug note when I'm blasting about on my 'non shiny' new rubber

Give the geezer a call .. didn't know me from adam, but was very helpful ( and apologetic when the size I wanted was out of stock ).
Even if he's pared the margin down compared to the 'walk-in' customer, we've generated enough turnover here for all of us to be happy
good customer service means people come back again ... wish some other establishments would figure this out.

Just gave them a ring and the SO3s are still £88 plus VAT for the 215 / 40 ZR 17.... Fitting and balancing is another £5 per tyre. Think that a bloody good price.
There doing them for me tomorrow

New rubber delivered, looks fantastic and smells great. (Wife thinks I'm terminally sad) Getting them fitted at the weekend. All that's left to do is spend the next couple of days burning what's left of the tread off the old rubber.

In fairness I got the SO3s fitted on Wednesday and he had loads of drama fitting them I had to help and got my hands dirty The tyres wouldn't seat on the rims correctly (or at least one wouldn't)
I was really pleased with prices I paid, and was amazed at the care taken to fit them to the rims. After they were fitted and balanced the wheels were tightened with a torque wrench. Don't see that happen often at ATS / Autospeed
I would recommend this place to everyone Top service and prices.

Tyres are fantastic.
Cut it a bit fine on the last set (after the final thrash you could see the cords on the inside of the fronts)
Not smart I know and certainly not intentional
Is that burning rubber I can smell?
Not any more I'm a reformed character.
till next time........

Sorry to take over the thread, yes it is possible to get tyres from this chap either through going there and buying them at the prices listed above. Or he can arrange posted to you, or the dealer that's fitting them.
A good service, IMHO
