The inner wings have been fully painted too, hopefully this will help keep the tin worm away for another 20 years.

Only a small update, but again the attention to detail shines through.

Love it. The pre-MY99 bumper is a great thing, what with its black detailing and central maw.

Unfortunately it looks like the grill should be colour coded. Been googling brochure pics, and they're coloured.

Oh yes, that's right! But looks cool black, IMO.

You mention "unfortunately": so are you going to return that section back to OEM coded white, then? For authenticity.

I have a MY99 STI 5 - with a FMIC. So have had the central maw mouldings cut away, as you do. Have a black powder-coated honeycomb mesh (to match the OEM grille) in place - as well as the IC core. Looks proper.

Yes, it's being colour coded. You mention some parts are cut away on my bumper.. sorry I've no idea what a maw is? Any chance of some pics of yours?

I think what he meant was he has had the centre grill and some of the fog/driving light inserts cut away to accomodate the core and pipe work on his bumper and i like the look of it painted black just that little detail makes your type r stand out from the rest i would keep it like it is .

I've cut all the fins out of my bumper as I can't live with them, white or black.

Ha. Maw means 'large mouth opening' (in a non-animal context, in this case).

On the MY99/00 bumper there's a single 'bar' moulded in that position. So had to obviously cut all that out for the FMIC and black wire mesh.

Rear window trims repainted today, these had been oversprayed previously and look like new now. They are no longer available new or they'd have been replaced, not sure that would have been worth it looking at these.

Slight repair on replacement spoiler, almost ready for paint

I had RCM order me a pair direct from Subaru, Japan (for a 4-dr, though).

But that was about 1-2 years ago, now.

Yeah, that's what I'd deduced from our respective experiences.

Are you not sticking with the mid level rear spoiler?
I keep toying with the idea of fitting the high level spoiler and the facelift front bumper but it would detract a little from the originality of the v3. Hmmm? I'm being swayed though.
