I bought one of Aldi's 'Espresso Macchiato' ready to drink cold coffees a few months ago. It cost 49 pence. I also bought a Tesco equivalent later that week, which cost 50 pence but I then saw at (I think) 75 pence a few days later.

Both looked and tasted exactly the same, had the same listed ingredients and the same 'nutritional' information (bearing in mind that admittedly they are dreadful, sugar laden cack - lovely!)

Crucially, they also both came in identical plastic cups with the same embossed markings on them, only differing in the plastic sleeve with the printed information on it.

I remember thinking at the time that they must be the same thing from the same manufacturer, apart from one had Tesco and the other had Aldi wrapping, and the Tesco one cost more.

I can believe that many Aldi/LIDL/Tesco/Waitrose products are made in the same factories, but I can also believe that the quality may differ, in order to meet the cost.

I also believe that a foolish consumer can be fooled by a supermarket wrapping 'No Frills' in expensive 'Yes Frills'. A foolish consumer will enjoy the latter more like an idiot and slate the former; even when the products are identical. It's like if you stick a Ford badge on an Audi. Audi with Ford badge will devaluate like f&&k in a regular consumer's eyes! We all know that.

If you can't tell the difference between those cars it's no wonder you have trouble with digestives.

One of Aldi's good products is their Rich Tea biscuits. They taste great and they're only 29p! Effing bargain, man!

Oh, I must add that if you're a cyclist or a fisherman, you must venture Aldi. They've always got loads of cycling and fishing stuff scattered about for quite cheap in their jumble sale isles. You know, those skimpily fitted Lycra kits, fishing rods/hooks and $h1t like that.

You say that, but surely it can't be the same product, i'm not saying it isn't on odd occasion, but i've tried Lidi stuff and never been impressed by any of it. Old things i'm sure i wouldn't know the difference.

Even places like home bargains, you can taste the difference in some of there products compared to the same thing in others shops, couldn't workout why, until i noticed the sell by date on a chocolate bar only had a few months left, so was probably past its best.

Even snobs are buying in Aldi/Lidl then leaving with their goods in .............. (insert posh supermarket name) bags

I went in and realised it was Lidl, which was handy as I could look at the cycling gear, all the peasants were staring at me, maybe my gold monocle wasn't shiny enough.

Aldi is the other side of town, will Lidl do? They're all made in the same factory right?

I assume aldi would do , so how did the test go , are the aldi mcvities good enough for you ?

Your real concern should be keeping the aldi packaging hidden from friends and neighbours

owned by the brothers , they just get a cheaper deal from same suppliers cos the packaging is less fancy, not perfumed etc

The cycling gear was pretty nasty, nearly bought some Muc-Off but don't need it.

I might be passing Lidl again tomorrow and love all digestives, even the ones you get in hotels, so will pick up a pack.

Must affect all Supermarkets, same factory same glass

Did you search for that? It's from 2015 so I doubt it popped up, either way good for you for being so concerned that you'd spend time looking.

So Waitrose sent an email to their customers, apart from me, about a recall that happened last year, really?

And it's not on the list with the other current stuff https://www.waitrose.com/content/wai...fications.html

I had Aldi's thin Dutch bacon, topped with Aldi's cherry tomatoes and finely sliced red onions (both fried in the bacon fat itself) in between Aldi's bread slices that were toasted in the same non-stick frying pan. No oil and no butter was used. I added some Aldi's brown sauce to it and wallah! It was amazing! :salivates:

I bought some Aldi Dark Chocolate Digestives, they taste like and have the consistency of cardboard. They must have consulted Shamsung on the packaging, it looks so much like McVities I'm surprised it's allowed. 59p instead of 75p for the real deal. 4/10 because I will eat them all. Definitely not made in the same factory.
