Cardboard!! The nicest lasagne comes in a wooden container, I'm not kidding! Very tasty but also a bit pricy for me, I'll pick one up if it's on clearance.

I'm not saying that some things an t made in the same factory. But when they are made in the same factory, there not to the same standard.

If that was the case we would all be buying cheap Android phones and not branded stuff.

*ALL* the meat in Aldi is British - and I applaud that

Their bacon until quite recently used to be British too - but they have now changed it to Danish....
Never had a problem with the British bacon myself - and would prefer it.

Have a Sainsburys in our town and you'd struggle to find any British meat in there....

plus you can't beat the 'Aisle of Dreams' - LOL

Are you confident in your statement that *ALL* meat in Aldi is British because I've recently read otherwise.

Hmmm - well certainly all the meat we buy from there is British - with the Farm Tractor logo on it - I know as my wife is very particular about trying to buy UK produce and checks every bloomin packet!

Here's where I read about the foreign meat.

From Aldi "Our everyday core range of meat is 100% British and Red Tractor approved farmed" commendable but don't believe that all meat in Aldi is British.

Not really, just doing my usual, pointing out misinformation. And yes, I'm a crusty old bloke, worse than that 90% of my weekly shop is from the clearance bin, and I have a free £2 coffee on top of that

Unfortunatly I ate the proof. But of course knowing you, you'd lay claim that I or her had purchased them from Mark and Sparks

You could of course just take my word for it....what motive would I have to lie about a packet of biscuits?

Had one of them once, I've had better. If its waitrose, their own brand Aberdeen Angus Lasagne was better IMO

I say "was" as its been a few years and they could have changed supplier. Like M&S did with their Tuscan Spicy Sausage Penne pasta...which used to be superb (for a ready meal), and now its shyte.

BTW I don't live on ready meals, I just went through a phase (lack of a working kitchen at the time being a convenient excuse )

The same reason you don't you take my word for it. What were the biscuits? I'll go buy a pack from Aldi and M&S and we'll see.

The non-branded stuff is made and repackaged for many "Premium" retailers. In fact Waitrose pulled the plug on their cakes from a local supplier because they made the same cakes for LIDL.
Even snobs are buying in Aldi/Lidl then leaving with their goods in .............. (insert posh supermarket name) bags

I should clarify, I'm under no illusion that different supermarkets use the same supplier, they do and I can show proof, what I'm not prepared to accept without proof is its the same product in a different wrapper.

They dont cut corners lol they have won a ton of awards they have a small selection of good and buy good quality products( yeh the factory was found to not be meeting standards and they stopped using the supplier Aldi dont make a huge profit from stores unlike the other big supermarkets. just about every supermarket week on week ouy recal stuff before it gets to the shops, thing that annoys me is the stuff that gets rejected because it has bashed packaging or veg that dont look perfect seems a waste.

Just an example.

"Hi, not sure if this has been said but if not here it is!

My sister-in-law's father works for Muller at a very high level (I don't especially want to say what in case someone works out who I'm on about) and he will bring home yogurts that have gone wrong in the factory (wrong labelling etc). However, she doesn't eat dairy so will pass them on to me and one day she handed me some yogurt packaged in Aldi's packaging instead of the usual Muller packaging.

Confused I asked her about it who in turn ask her dad about it - it turns out that Aldi's yogurts (the ones that look like Muller ones) are in fact produced in the Muller factory in Market Drayton with pretty much the exact same ingredients."

I mentioned earlier my wife spent a year working for Lidl. She attended a product course where she was told Mcvities make a lot of biscuits for Lidl in non branded Mcvitie packaging.

First page

"my oher half used to work for mcvities and all the digestives are made by them, tesco, asda, sainsburys,m&s,aldi, lidl happy shopper, its just that m&s specify a different cooking time and are taken from the centre of the batch its the same for snacks"

then

"Sainsburys milk chocolate digestives are just the best!!! The chocolate is nice and they are just scrummy! I prefer them to McVities so whether its because the chocolate bit is nicer I don't know."

You shouldn't believe everything you Google for.
