Looks like one of our traders does not take care of our cars when test driving!
Still going, well I personally think there is no meat left on the bones of this subject, the main offender is out of a job, Scooby clinics reputation is in tatters and the injured party has had his revenge and got a payday out of it according to some.

I don't quite see the relevance to the thread (although it is bloody long and I can't remember it all...) but
The transmission won't fall apart, clearly, but the LSDs, where present, WILL be affected and there is a warning in the user manual about just that.
Exclaiming "*****" and posting a picture of a rally car doesn't prove much. Perhaps you really said more than "*****"? I'm not being facetious, I'm genuinely curious if you have sound theory/knowledge to prove your point...
But comparing a production road car to a rally car with a team of mechanics on standby and massive budget behind it, with all focus on completing a rally stage in the fastest possible time is totally irrelevant. The components only have to last until the end of the stage at which point they can be adjusted/repaired/replaced as necessary.

I totally see and yes it's wrong but last time I visited the clinic there were approximately 14 guys employed so is it fair to the others to tar them all with the same brush ?
If that was your dashcam footage, no matter how you handled it, how would you honestly feel? For example, if it was me driving your car?
Not forgetting that his reply pretty much dismisses it.. Legal reasons or not, it will cost him more than it would have to just look after the fella

no mate its not fair on good employees as some might end up out a job through this hope it doesnt come to that
If you read between the lines if the reply it seems it's just their attitude. It stinks.. I said before in my comments that I was sure the video wasnt going up depending on how it was handled, then he replied with that. Wonderful
Personally if I captured footage like that of a friend driving my car in that manner I would be gobsmacked. A stranger I pay good money to and trust for their good reputation etc etc, I would bme absolutely gutted, angry etc..

Yes they are tough, but they have their limits. The auto boxes have a different system than the vLSDs in the centre of the manuals though, they're probably better able to handle it?

No idea about the autos, but running an Impreza on an MOT rolling road brake tester will not break it. If I thought it would, I wouldn't buy one!

Incidentally, I've had customers who have insisted that I drive over potholes when looking for clonks, knocks and bonks. They have also asked me to drive over 100 mph then slam the brakes on (I refuse) and I have also learnt not to let them drive me on road tests as some of them are STARK STARING BLOODY MAD!
I was once foolish enough to rag my mums Jetta down a track, not as potholed as that one, but at speeds of up to 60 mph once, when I were a yoof. I then pulled out onto a major A road dual carriageway and got it up to speed, and the throttle decided that it would stick wide open, leaving me to stamp hard on the brakes which didn't slow it down much, so then had to knock it into neutral and turn it off, before it blew up, whilst still travelling at a fair old lick.
A rally car is built to handle it, and the occupants know the risk. We've all seen the state of wheels and tyres that come off a rally car. Imagine someone treating your car like that, then unbeknown to you, you put your wife and kids in the car and something fails, like the example above. I was lucky, it was early hours of the morning and there was no traffic on the road.
