Seen him a few years back. One of the all time greats.

Just to add to the melee 'Man of the World'.

Currently listening to 'This is Soul' 36 Soul Classics double CD.
You would be hard pressed to pick a favourite from just that one album. So keep 'em coming as it's getting me to delve into some great stuff.

Thumbs up

Well I am delighted that a few others appreicate Peter Green. I have followed him from his early John Mayall days and then Fleetwood of course. A stunning tone from his guitar which I think Gary Moore used to use. It was sad to see Peter disintegrate with the drugs although I guess he was lucky to avoid the "27" club. There was a TV programme of Peter showing off his guitat collection, pretty impressive!

Here is a lesser known instrumental from Peter. Wonderful technique and in the days with few electronic gizmos to hold those wonderful long notes.

And I agree "Man of the World" is right up there. Weren't there two parts, I'll have to check.

Agreed it seems it was the LSD from the munich party that did him in and Danny Kirwin on the same night.

I can't leave this thread without mention of my lifelong admiration for Roy Buchanan. Guitar supremo. i saw him a couple of times when I lived in Washington, he was playing with his early band The Snake Stretchers. He didn't travel much but I did catch him on a rare UK visit. Sadly he died in prison in suspicious cirumstances a long time ago. My boy plays the guitar and does a really good version of this track and with better vocals, not one of Roy's strong points! Maybe I'm just getting cynical in my old age, but when I see a thread like this I feel like I'm being asked what's the best-tasting potato I've ever eaten.

Well from the contemporary scene, I quite like these two potatoes:

I particularly like when she screeches on her quickly varied high pitch voice, all of a sudden.

My all time favourite instrumental, nothing comes close for me.

Dancing in outerspace by Atmosphere.

Other faves.

Fluffy clouds by the Orb.
Rappers delight, Sugarhill Gang.
Sunshine on a rainy day.
Aint no sunshine when she's gone.
Aint nobody, loves me better.

Loads more but that'll do for now, going to see if I can find dancing in outerspace and fluffy clouds.

Choon Man oh man did I drop some fancy footwork to this back in the day.

"I'm just sittin' here makin' myself nauseous
With this ugly food that stinks"
So you bust out the door while it's still closed
Still sick from the food you ate
And then you run to the store for quick relief
From a bottle of Kaopectate
And then you call your friend two weeks later
To see how he has been
And he says, "I understand about the food,
Baby Bubba, but we're still friends"

classic
