Cool

Mattski, how many bent fins has it got only kidding, good luck on selling it on!

Trout, didn't mean to come across stroppy, just didn't want to throw more good money after bad as they say! Bloody modding bug has cost me a fortune, some of us have spent more than others I s'pose
As far as the benefits STiV Vs MRT TMIC, as you say - I hear what you are saying about the adjust to fuelling etc. I do understand the calibration principles behind mapping, but when I was in the market for a TMIC upgrade, I searched every where for data comparisons between BPM, APS, MRT and STi TMIC. After several emails to the suppliers and even Bob (Mapping Guru ), they all said that the STi5/6/P1 TMIC is hard to beat.
Most of the benefits of these upgrade TMIC are from larger surface area, if comparing like for like efficiency & pressure drops are a knats Kock apart!

Jacko. FMIC wannabe

<have heard from other APS owners that yes - good - but pipes leak badly and it is high maintenance from that respect>. Trout.

Trout is right the pipes are crap they wear out due to friction with other engine components, so you get little holes etc which cause leaks, I have used gaffer tape all over the shop looks really great…not:-(

As for the Cooler it self worth it's weight in gold, Bob & Branko ordered a couple straight after mapping my Car and Andy Tangs as they were more then impressed.

The fins are hard as nails! If buying the black one you will get some chips but nothing a black felt tip cant cover.

I was thinking of selling it of and going with HKS/Cusco/trust/blitz only cause being the pipes where not up to scratch.

I am in the process of acquiring some costs of ally ones being made up a few suppliers out there want to take the **** but I am sure I will get a result and let you all know in time. DO MAIL ME IF YOU HAVE AN INTEREST IN ALI PIPES FOR THE APS.

Trout, nice to meet with you and your lady the other day at Andy's.

Regards

Moe

While the 40 degC sounds like a lot, this was on a warm sunny day recently, and it actually only got as far as 39degC. Ambient was around 20 degC+ And more in direct sunshine, and in a black car ( whether that makes a difference? Also, while the quality may not be the best around, it is certainly better value for money. More usually temps are around the sub 30 degC mark. The APS and HKS may be better and slighlty more efficient, and average around the mid 20's, but what sort of boost pressure are you running? Is it as much as 1.7 bar? From reading here, not too many people even attempt to go this high. So i dont think there is really that much difference between them. Another comment is that we have been running quite high boost for a while now ( 5-6000 miles of reasonable abuse ), and so far the engine seems to standing up no probs. Which is a UK short motor, sec hand of unknown milage but visually very good, fitted with sec hand sti pistons, open deck block, ( re-used old head gaskets too!!! metal shim type ). std CR. If it aint broke, dont fix it. Saying that, the gearbox did **** itself yesterday.
