I've just had them fitted and set up. They're just fantastic. Best money I've spent on this car. Currently on 16/32 all round and a 25mm drop. While there is a lot more noise on rough a roads it handles amazingly well. It's firm, but no crashing, much less body roll and the whole car feels much more planted and stable. However it now feels so stable and controlled I've got the urge for more power...

I've been lingering for a while on these, and now the time is right.

I gave Jerrick a bit of hard time on the Honda in US thread, and I was coming from a cynical standpoint (I'm afraid the coilover aftermarket does that to folk!), but the more I've read on them, the more I've come 'round and think it's worth giving them a go.

Apart from a decent product, for something like these having GB back up is really important to me. In addition the fact that you're supporting the Scooby community with your GB creating an excellent deal is great.

I look forward to receiving them.

Mine arrived today!



I'm pretty impressed with the quality of the finish. Rarely see depth and finish like this on coilovers, let alone at this price point. Should last well, but plumped for the anti-corrosion coating too.





They came with C spanners and a full kit of top mount nuts. I also purchased rear adjuster extenders, (pretty essential I would have thought with an interior in) and camber bolts in case needed.



So all in all happy with the way everything looks, but will be a while before I get to use them in anger.

I used to have this when I first registered on here about 4-5years ago, hence my user name



But now on a Type R WRX V-Ltd which is going WRC arches in the coming months, & so is why I won't be using them just yet.

Took a while to get height set up as I've never fitted new coilovers before so didn't know what height to start with .

I would've shaved 3 hrs off the fitting time if I had a rough idea where to start height wise so here's a couple of pics for anyone fitting these to a classic .

I know these measurements won't suit everyone ,mines a lightweight v1 with a heavy 6 speed and rolled rear arches but it will save a bit of time using the spanners under the arches 😉

No problem bud , the fronts outta the box had to be raised 30 mm just to get the jack out without the tyres hitting the wings (hence the extra 3 hrs)

First impressions I'm impressed with the lack of body roll in the twisties and the fact nose doesn't lift when I hit full boost as much compared to the previous elbaich springs and kyb's .

I can't say if it handles much better as it's raining in my neck of the woods and I won't get it geo'd until I've run it a bit longer with passengers in the back (to make sure I'm happy with the height and damper settings )

Cambs_stuart when you fitted them have you got any other suspention mods to your motor or just the coilovers? Any problems with bump steer or anything. Cheers in advance

 

No, nothing else on the suspension. Longer term I may be looking into poly bushes and alloy wishbones on the front, but currently the only other handling mods are heavy duty drop links (not solid billet), poly bushes on the front and rear ARBs and the rear is a 19mm version. I've also re-lubricated all the suspension joints.
I haven't noticed anything in the way of additional bump steer. It may be that I'm not trying hard enough. It may be that as I'm close to the min drop so it's not an issue. My driving is mainly swift b roads and fast a roads. I know the car can go faster than I have the ability or confidence to push so it may be someone with more skill than me may find more issues.
I'm also impressed with the geo set up from the revivals 59 garage. It sticks to the road under pressure, although it is slightly more twitchy at higher speeds.
Although I reserve the right to change that opinion if i find I've knackered the tyres in a thousand miles...

They're the first set of coilovers I've ever bought so I'm not the best person to rely on for honest comparisons. However, I am very happy with how they perform, & I've put a longer review in the testimonials section.
And without wanting to tell you how to suck eggs, the most important thing I've learnt is get your geo done by someone who knows what they are doing.
N.B. I still reserve the right to change my mind if I find out that in order to overcome bump steer problems the toe in setting destroys my tyres...

Worked for me a couple of weeks ago.

 

Are the GC8 springs red as in the page one pics ? the ones above are black.

 

I was sent black springs for my gc8 fitment and just assumed that they're newer versions ,rather than old stock .

It's been geo'd up for a week (100 miles ish) and I've not suffered with any bump steer as the dampers seem to react quickly to bumps . Saying that I am also running Whiteline arb ,links and roll center correction kit as well.

The height seems fine for for me negotiating the many pot holes and speed bumps near me but still keeping the p1 splitter intact and keep good traction . I have stiffened the damper setting to 14/32 .As when they were set at 16 / 32 I found I ended up with a bit "patter" on a stretch of new carriage way .
