Mate, you're nothing special, you're just a sh1tty lift engineer and you've been one all your working life, now you see some bloke on the internet that's done a fair bit more than you have with your life and decide that your new mission / claim to fame is to try and dis-credit him, what's that all about.
It's not my fault you've done **** all except work on lifts, knock some tart up and go on holiday to marbella once a year for the last 20yrs.
We're all masters of our own destiny, if you're not happy with your life, following me around a website isn't going to solve your problems, you need to get out and do something constructive with yourself pal, and I'm sure your Mrs and kids would appreciate some of the attention you seem so intent on giving me.

P.S, Dress it up anyhow you like, I've been in the lift game and it ain't that great, same **** everyday, they haven't changed since the day they were invented, it's hardly rocket science bolting bits of metal together, wiring some switches and fitting entrance frames.
Much like engine building, pretty basic stuff really, the real work is done by the proper engineers, not fitters or assemblers.

I also lived in Germany for a little over 6 months, Reclenhausen nr Botrop, (sp) I was a dach decker (sp) roofing contracts on a price per roof, 2/3 story apartment blocks 4 man team, we'd rip one off and put it back on in a week or so dependant on how big it was, some of the best money I've ever earned, but you had to work your bollocks off to make it pay, circa £800 a week once we got the hang of it, first 6 weeks was a bit of a nightmare, because the money wasn't coming in, ended up living off tuna and pasta cooking in the digs, once we got paid though it was halb henchun mit pom fritts unt mayo all the way. What's with the krauts and mayo
that was well over 20yrs ago when they still had marks.Germany, completed it.

Never been to Cuba I hear it's quite cheap there and a bit like Thailand with the rent a lady for a week or 2, a mate went a few years back.

My stalker back for some more. It must really burn you to see someone that's had a life eh! If the lad has lived in Germany he'll know exactly what I'm talking about.
Here's another one for you, I even pulled on our first night out at a music festival in a local park, she used to come and pick me up of a friday night and I'd spend the weekend with her at her place, she'd even do my washing, the lads I was working with hated me for it, they had to wash their clothes in the shower at the digs by hand
often wondered what life would be like if I'd have stayed there with her, she was a nurse and bang tidy too.

When I was wiring care homes and blocks of flats (all the electrics ((inc 235mm sub mains)), door access, nurse call systems, addressable fire alarms, etc) I knew a few of the 'lift engineers', nothing like proper engineers, most aren't even what I'd call 'intelligent'! All they did was put together manufactured parts that someone else had told them they needed to fit, then press a couple of buttons to program the floor levels

£40k at best, the money is just not in it, even dealing with high speed sky scrapers, and certainly someone with your grammar won't have the brain power to do that. What I done.
I don't claim to have a fantastic education, but even with my CSE grade C English language qualification, I know more than you do, and I didn't even like school, spent half the time in the hallway outside the class room and still passed. Just showed yourself up as the thick **** you are.

As for the guy claiming electricians are better because he can do 235mm cables etc. I always use the "brawn over brain" type of guys for that kind of work. Why have a dog and bark yourself...
The clever guys are the ones designing it, building the panels and commissioning it all...

Oh how the truth outs. If you're not trying to impress people why mention £70/80K
and while that may be achievable as a sub-contractor, we both know that would be gross, there's all your expenses to come out of that, plus no holiday or sick pay, down days due to lack of equipment etc, etc, the list goes on and on, yes I have also been self employed / sub- contracted and I know exactly how it goes.I made good money some months and not so good others, then just as you start to get ahead, it's christmas or the car needs something or some ****** holds up paying you for a month or two, I spent 3yrs working to get back to zero after all my initial outlay and running costs. Then I got to the point where the business had paid for the car etc and I had about £10k in the bank and decided to call it a day when I was made a very good offer by a big company.
It's nice working for yourself, but it's not all roses especially if you're a one man band, there's only so much work you can do in a day, my break even was around £4k a month, that's to run everything and pay me ish £20k, the offer I got was £30k, my choice of car (from a nice list) 6 weeks holiday, final salary pension, shares and good prospects for promotion, no brainer really.
Still jacked it though, too independent to be a wage slave.

In the old days you could literally listen to a lift panel to find out what was wrong with it or at least to get an idea where to look, relays and clicking in and out doing all the switching. These days much like cars, I imagine there's equipment that does the diagnosis for you and tells you what needs to be changed, ergo "fitter".

Lift commissioning now involves writing the programme for the lifts and such what's. You are comparing an industry which does not exist in the same form you worked in it any more. There are hardly any lifts with relay boards etc in.
