iOS 9; who's made the leap?
You can work around it https://www.izettle.com/GB/help/articles/2125302
I have ios9 on my iPad and there's nothing that's causing me any frustration by being without on my iPhone.
I can't say I like the new way to close apps, why they did that I don't know!
Just put it on the wife's 5, it took over 20 minutes to download on a 100Mb connection, and more than an hour to update the phone, punctuated by silly messages about not being able to do it, connect, etc, then doing it a few seconds later.
Apple has exceeded even my thoughts that it's ****.
Now, the phone, updated and with brand new Virgin SIM, cannot find any service, so is doing nowt:mad

ditto, was a pet hate trying to get the cursor in between tow words to edit now a breeze, on my IPhone 5 the battery life is night and day 60% from a full charge this morning would be about 25- 30 % before the update.
settings > carrier > switch off automatic > should see 5 or 6 carriers 2 virgins ones, use the lower case one small v try that, I came home from Tenerife and had the no service up that was the fix, if this still fails try putting off wi fi and put phone on 2G try the above again if you get it connected switch back to 3G and put on wi fi.
I use Notes a lot and it is about time it has more functionality than something from the Early Learning Centre.
I can no longer upload .jpeg images since the update on my iPad Air 2 so have to use my old iPad 2.

Bloódy annoying too.
I've also just compiled an email then went to change the email address I'm sending it from, which I do regularly, and it won't now change. Again, it works on the iPad 2.
Also, I have to manually check duplicated forwarded Gmail emails in my Apple Mail app now as reading them doesn't register them as being read and the blue dot remains.

No, just composed an email and could change the from address, iPad Air 2. Emails are marking as read as well, if it's a threaded conversation you have to scroll to see all the blue dots to make them disappear... but that might be on my Mac don't have any to test on iPad.

No matter what I do with the email read situation nothing but a manual edit removes the blue dot.
ipad and iphone 6+ work better on it, even better on battery than on ios8,
Heavy use all day on and off and going home at 6pm still above 80% battery
Used to be about 65% battery for same use

I had to read this post twice because the way it's written, I thought your mum was only four years old and that's why she isn't a power user of her iPad. I found it quite weird.
It could be just this iOS 9 on my iPad making your post a bit confusing.
All I see different on my iPad desktop is that there's a new app to find my iPhone, and there's another app called 'Find Friends) on the map. Both just came up
automatically. I don't think I've had this iSO 9 upgrade on my iPhone yet. I wonder if that will come up with an app to find my iPad. We'll see.
Now if you have 'Use my location' thingy set, would it mean that anyone who has your number can locate you? If that's the case, then I suggest we must turn that 'location' thing off before some axe murderer turns up to kill us at our door step with the courtesy of our Apple devices. Other than that, what if I just delete such axe murderer type of contacts from my phone? That may not work, because if they still hold your contact on their device, you're fcvked, I suppose.
Found the .jpeg issue with the sites it wouldn't upload to. I asked the site owners if the .jpeg file extension was definitely listed in their allowed files even though it hasn't been an issue up to now. It turns out .jpg was listed but not .jpeg. Once it was added the problem disappeared.
my emails are constantly showing unread even when empty
lots of notification on various apps don't seem to work
tried the reboots, delete/reinstalls all to no avail, sure they'll get it right by 9.6......

I'd maybe wait to update, especially the latest .1 update..
Mrs' daughter has a mint 5c which she updated as soon as latest came out last week. Phone wouldn't turn on yesterday (she turns it on and off a lot at school). I had a look and it wouldn't come on, tried all the usual tricks. Assumed it was the power button as she insists on keep turning it off for some reason, just thought it'd worn out.
Anyway, Mrs takes it to the repairers today and bloke "knows what's wrong" says since the latest update hers is the 5th iPhone that's come in like this and there's a software problem.
Mrs then went into EE shop and mentioned it, they said they've also had a few customers in today (including a couple of iPhone 6's) with the same problem! All of which have experienced this since the latest update.
Obviously doesn't effect every phone, but seems like it might be a problem maybe best avoided for the sake of some minor updates. Maybe wait this one out a bit.
Also, don't know when it happened but one of the main problems with this fault is that since a previous update the phone no longer turns itself on (if you've turned it off) when you start charging it. Don't know when that happened, but obviously doesn't help the situation if you've got this problem as you'd otherwise be able to wake it up with the charger.

Upgraded my 5 and it's made it slower - menu's sometimes stutter when scrolling through. Youtube app especially noticeably more juddery. Only worthwhile benefit for me is Notes has improved a lot.
Considering downgrading to 8.4 which can still be done apparently, but expect an update out soon with bug fixes.

Updated our iPad 3 on the release day and after a short time it reported that there was insufficient space on iCloud to perform its backup (when there is more than enough). Worked OK on the iPad Air 2. It seems this has been an issue with older iPads, and apparently the 9.0.2 was supposed to offer a fix. It didn't and stopped iCloud backup on my 6S Plus at the same time.
Still a bit of work to be done I guess.
