Audi TT or STi - HELP ME DECIDE!!!!
I once owned a UK 00MY scooby, i sold it after i was rear ended and bought myself a TT roadster 225. The TT is a great car, fantastic build quality and looks v cool but its no way as involving or exciting as my old scoob. Infact i missed the scoob so much that after test driving an Sti type UK i ordered it there an then. Fortunately im in a position where i can keep the TT (the girlfriend would kill me if i sold it!!) but if i had to make the choice the scoob would win hands down! Trust me, you would bore of the TT after a while. Perhaps the only downside of choosing the scoob would be its residual value. I lost quite alot of money (7K) on my 00MY when i sold it after 1 year whereas the TT after 18months has probably lost about 4-5K. But lets face it cars always loose money so i reckon still go for the scoob!
Just one more thing, in my experience, the young ladies out there prefer the sensible, posh and pretty TT's to the boyed up, cheap looking blue with gold wheeled essex boy car!! (That was my girlfriends description)

Sebastian - "Yea I agree with Mcrash -TT's are almost exclusively driven by toffee-nosed women who think they are too stush, are clearly designed with women in mind, and if you see a bloke in one he's either looks a ponce or like he's borrowed his wife's motor."
I love sweeping statements....spot on though

Quite simple really.
Audi TT on a challengine road/track = gravel rash
Subaru Impreza on a challenging road/track = tow truck
LOL
Dont get an Audi TT, they have a very nasty snap oversteer charicteristic, the STi is a much safer car IMHO.

Brun - what's wrong with my MX-5..........?
Wilf - around here, there's a lot more Scoob's, but I admit they're not all STi's - although the owners try hard to make them look like them, so on that count, there's more Scoob's than TT's, generally.
As for performance, a Scooby - driving colleague here was at a Spectator Stage on a rally here last year, and amongst the usual Scoob's, EVO VII's and 6R4's, there was a guy competing in a TT - I have no idea who it was, or how he fared, but that one obviously had as much go as show....

Two coments from an STi UK owner:
I find the car fine to drive on the motorway (no problems with noise/ride for me)....
.....but don't expect much over 25 to the gallon average consumption even with lot of motorway driving.
Also I agree that the car is ugly......but buy one anyway!!

Do you seriously want a car that was (and I quote) "designed under the influence of Jimi Hendrix"???
Ok, the missus has a TT, I have a PPP'd MY00.
Here's my thoughts.
TT - much better motorway cruiser, doesn't have the kick in the kidneys that the Scoob has. Can feel claustrophobic, better build quality, less rattles/squeaks. Insurance the same as my Scoob. MPG - shes up to 31 mpg average from new over 1500 miles, suspect the STi wouldn't be much different.
Scoob - bigger car, better cornering, better on track/for raw appeal.
2 very different cars! Suggest you try and get a afternoon in each and see what suits you.
