Then how did you remove the resonator?! Perhaps it's still there....

Sounds to me most likely is an over-oiled panel filter contaminating the MAF (assuming they're not pre-oiled...last one I fitted was to a mk1 escort) - please see the "Engine Failure - Survey" thread and add your details.

How much will it cost you to repair?
