The current squad simply isn't good enough to achieve that which has already been proven.

Good post Rob, I'm glad I'm not the only one that doesn't rate smalling and I'd agree with your assessment if the team.
I'm not happy with the way united have conducted themselves at board level through. The Italian and Brazilian media were reporting the Maureen story Saturday morning but for mendes to give it to every British media outlet 20 mins after we've lifted the cup is shocking. United board must take some blame for the as well.
I'm no lover of Lvg but that is pi55 poor treatment, if I remember correctly I made similar comments when Moyes left.
We behave like City and CFC nowadays, that certainly isn't the united way either.

Ha ha i kind of agree with all you said, about who to keep, i think Valencia is a hard working player, makes mistakes but puts 100%.
I would like to keep Rooney, i know he's not been as good lately, but he made the difference in FA cup, he puts in good effort. And can see him being a good leader.
And only other thing is i'd like to see him keep Smalling on, i know he's not been very good last few games, but he's made some good saves and i can see potential of him, just think he needs a world class partner to learn from.
Only thing i hope won't happen is Mourhino not let players like Rashford, and Fosu Mensah play first team football and just go on a spending spree.

Martial, Rashford, Shaw, De Gae and Fosu Mensah who has big potential .... Obviously that isn't going to happen but you asked the question.
The rest arn't good enough to be Manchester United players, how many of the rest would have made past Manchester United teams ? Rooney is now too slow, he's always had a clumsy first touch, he may well give the odd good pass against weaker opposition but with less time and space against better opposition he'll get shown up and will constantly lose or give away possession.
Mata's days will probably be numbered under Mourhino as he never really rated him anyway hence why he sold him, Herrera is average, Carrick will probably leave, Fellaini is never a United player in a million years, Schweinsteiger was well past his best when we signed him, Schneiderlin probably not United standard. Not been convinced one bit by Memphis under LVG, worth giving him a try under Mourhino to see if that lifts his mood.
The defence, Rojo is never a United standard player, Chris Smalling has gone backwards and his distribution can be poor, Darmian is never United standard, Phil Jones again is never United standard, out of the whole defence Luke Shaw is the only one who has any real class along with De Gae just behind them.
Up front, Rashford and Martial are the future. Never rated Lingard, the shot he had in the final yesterday, if he tried that 20 times 19 of them would probably end up in the crowd as i've seen him do that plenty of times, he got it right on the big occasion but that was deffo a one off great finish. Valencia would make a good squad player, the same for Ashley Young.
Probably missed a few but you get the gist of it.

Every media outlet is confirming but nowt on the United web site
Lets get this circus over and done with.
My feelings remain the same Lvg had to go but Maureen ain't the man for me, no excitement over his potential signing whatsoever, this is the first time in 40 odd years that we get a new manager and I cannot see any positives, i'm numb to it all I think, I hope he proves me wrong.
I'm not alone, O/T will be divided next season, he'd better behave himself and stop chatting ****

I lost all respect for Mourhino with the way he treated that lady doctor, basically blaming her for his own team under performing. In his last season at Chelsea his interviews were bizarre to say the least, to the point where they were embarrassing.
That was the first time in his career that he had come under any real pressure, he didn't handle it and then went on to blame anything and everything but himself for his team seriously under performing. It looked like he'd lost the dressing room as well towards the end, so does his appointment fill me with confidence ?
No it doesn't, i'm with Munki as i think his style won't go down well with the United fans and i think he's lost a lot of respect in the game with his cryptic rants/outbursts during his last season at Chelsea along with the doctor episode. He went from the self proclaimed Special One to the Embarrassing one imo.

It's the rumoured concerns of some high profile players in the squad who don't want him as manager i'd be more concerned about. Dividing the team before he has even stepped foot in the place can't be a good start to his appointment.

rightly or wrongly players have a big influence, especially the established "stars"
it is clear Mourinho lost the dressing room at Chelsea

Ive followed Utd for around 30 years but am far from a fanatical supporter. I'd rather watch them loose 3-0 than watch a boring 0-0.
LVG's Utd was boring to watch and if they had scraped to winning the league this term I would still have been happy to see him walking down the road.
Not the greatest fan of watching JM's teams play but surely they will have to look better than they did this term???

Nett spend by LVG was £74m, but that never gets mentioned by anyone especially the media they only ever focused on the £250m.
At least he has the FA Cup on his Cv and he left us Martial, Rashford, Shaw and Fosu Mensah.
Woodward needs to go back to what he does best in the commercial side of the business and leave footballing matters to others.
