Has everyone done a full reinstall or anyone stayed with the upgrade? I can't face rebuilding my machines from scratch, takes days to get them back to how they were with everything installed and configured so i'm tempted to just stay with the upgrade as long as there is no noticeable slow down.

I've always been wary of upgrades in the past and done clean installs, but the upgrade has been perfect for me. No slow down, less used disk space and everything works perfectly. I had a clean up of unused games and programs before doing it though.

I'd go for the upgrade, then perhaps do a clean install if you have any issues.

Thanks Dunk, yeah i've already done the upgrade and everything is working great, the machine is only a couple of months old so I don't see any reason to do a full wipe on it.

I'd be interested to hear if anyone's seen any specific performance improvements or other reasons to do a clean install though

Apart from an odd keyboard freeze every now and then with a Logitech keyboard mine has run perfectly, without going too deep and testing things i'd say that Windows 10 seems to be a little bit snapier than Windows 7. If you click on something like a folder it's there in an instant, same with browsers etc

The only prob with doing a clean, fresh install is you'll need to make sure all the drivers are available for your mobo especially if you have a high end mobo.

Their are several components on a motherboard that need their own individual drivers, you'll need things like Marvell drivers, Realtek drivers, USB 3 drivers, Audio drivers, Raid drivers just to name a few. If they aint listed on your own motherboard manufacturers website it can be a pain trolling through all the individual sites trying to find them. Upto now i'm happy to stick with the upgrade as its running smooth without any real problems so why change ?

Installed it and promptly ditched it.

Doesn't properly support dual screens, so effing useless to me.

In what way? I have my laptop docked and two screens running from the port replicator just fine.

What I like about it is that it places the start button and task bar across all screens when the display is extended to a second screen.

I've stuck with the upgrade as well, no issues, well i did have 1 BSOD last week, something to do with incorrect voltage to the CPU, which i've never had before under 7, but it hasn't done it again since. Might be the PSU beginning to **** itself.

Anyway, yes its definitely snappier than 7 for all functions. Noticed CPU and RAM usage are up, so temps are up a tad, when its not idling. Startup on mine is a lot quicker even with an SSD, but shutdown is about the same.

Yep multimonitor support if anything is much better than before. I also like the virtual desktops with or without a single monitor.

Start up seems faster on mine, just the upgrade. I don't have one of those SSD's though. Some things seem faster functioning, others slower, hey-ho.

Works fine for me? I have a GTX 970. I like the way it puts a task bar on both the screens.
With Windows 7 sometimes when the screens came on after being asleep the screen connected via the display port wouldn't display properly. Touch wood, but since the upgrade it's never done it.

If you have come from Windows 7 it should be very snappy indeed in comparison. I went straight to Windows 8.1 when it was released as it was a completely different OS to 8 and 8.1 is incredibly snappy compared to 7. I'm not noticing any improvements in 10 but then 8.1 was so fast for me I think it would be hard to improve on. Obviously the big difference for the majority is having a fully functional start menu back that comes out the box.

I'm not sure I even want to upgrade my Windows tablet to 10 as 8.1 is so good on it.

Something to note guys - I have put it on 8 machines so far (and rolled it back off one too as the poxy dyno software doesnt work with it) and the complaint about it being dead slow was only noticeable on 3 of them. All machines with a slow HDD.

Further investigation revealed they have changed the way the search system works so it has to re-index everything on your machine and also fires up windows defender too.

My advice, leave it turned on for 24hrs and make sure you download the large cumulative update launched at 5pm last night.

After leaving them to index they are indeed all much nicer and snappier than they were on win 7 ultimate. The machines with SSDs didnt really suffer "noticeably"

I like Win 10. Its a winner for me. The virtual desktops are just awesome for mapping!

But you are using the same graphics cards for all 3, I am not which Windows 7 and all former windows versions support, 10 doesn't.

I have GTX760's on my 2560x1600 main screen, and my 1080p secondary screen uses a GTX580 for browsing, movies etc. Not gonna fork out for another graphics card to get Windows 10 for free when it will likely only be £50 once sorted.

Try updating your gfx drivers before trying the upgrade. Or installing any optional updates.

Then from CMD do, wuauclt.exe /updatenow

Is this error from windows update or not? If yes follow the above, if not download the media creation tool and try that instead.

It's automatic mate, from windows update, check your installed win updates, it should be listed in there.

From settings/update & security/windows update/advanced options/view your update history.

Theres been a few large cumulative updates now.

One thing that I really dislike about Win 10, is I have no option to choose which updates are installed.

I don't want Skype and whatever other shit they are pedaling.

Is there a work-around so I can choose to not install all the guff relating to that crap?

Nope, but you can uninstall updates.

Control Panel/Program and Features/View Installed Updates/Select the one u want and uninstall. I would be careful though as you might break something

Or you could use system restore to a point before an update, but then that update would get installed again unless you hide it to stop it.
