I think it will delete that or give you the option to after a month.

If you look in settings/update & security/Recovery it mentions it in there.

Really helpful eh lol, it's a bug, something to do with regional settings.

Try this goto "Control panel", "Language and region", then go to the region for the United States, click "Administrative" and change the language to English (United States).

Retry the upgrade, by the way when its cancelled or closed, it deletes all the setup files! so you have to dload them again.

when you are installing directly onto your laptop from the download page does it ask for a product key? I saved the installation to a USB stick via their tool program and it stated I need to remember the key.....

It didn't for me, but my laptop has an OEM windows 8 key stored in the BIOS so I assume it used that.

Setup was a little arsey about connecting to my Wi-Fi then seemingly froze, rebooted itself and started again. From then on it was pretty smooth. I've not explored much yet but it seems like 10 is the way everyone hoped 8 would be.

Don't think its going to happen. The Nvidia website said Go See Sony as they've integrated the GPU with the CPU or some such and its bespoke to Sony. Sony haven't released a Win7 driver for this particular laptop, so naff all chance of them doing a Win10 one.

Its workable though and seems stable enough.

Didn't sony stop making laptops...their laptop divsion (now Vaio was sold to the Japanese manufacturer's consortium. The **** end of this is probably a drop in driver support.

I fell out of love with Nvidia many years back over iffy drivers going from bad to worse as well as Nvida chipsets frying laptops. So I don't have a high opinion of them.

Mine is using under 5GB with all my daily apps running, which includes a couple instances of Chrome which sucks RAM. Chrome eventually maxxes my RAM by the end of a day.

I would check your processes as you may have a mem leak with something or an app/service that isn't fully compatible with 10 yet.

This Ram usage is a bit of a concern; alot of PCs still have 4gig RAM.

My net-top (ideacenter q180) is a an Atom has 4gb, its got win7 and it plods on ok (was fine when new, updates have made it slower and slower).

Would win10 rejuvenate it or make it worse?

I am bitterly disappointed.

Laptop sloooooooowed right down.
Nividia GPU not enabled
Worst of all - Lack of focus . Everything is now blurry.

My 8.1 was very focused and snappy.

It is now a f_ucking dog.

I will give it a few days and revert back .

Download latest nvidia driver Rob, the PCs and laptops need updating as its direct x12

http://www.nvidia.co.uk/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-uk

You cannot let windows decide for you, it will work but not as intended for most, you will always have to Dload the latest drivers from ati or nvidia, even if visually it looks ok games will run like dogs.

My retina Mac works fine with windows 10 visually its stunning in 5k however the drivers are not there for the vga and games run with 3 FPS

Ali leave it alone, win10 as with 8 runs best with 8gb ram......

I was already running the latest Nvidia driver 353.62 and it was deleted during the upgrade . I have since reinstalled , but the GPU does not seem to be enabled as per NVidia Inspector.
I don't play games - I just browse and play videos via JRiver media player + MDVR

When I upgraded mine I had to run DDU to completely remove my Nvidia drivers then install the drivers again. Windows was using the basic display driver and every time I tried to install the Nvidia drivers it would stop with an error.

DDU - http://www.majorgeeks.com/files/deta...installer.html

Touch wood ive had no problems since the install, i got given Windows 10 Pro. A lot of Windows 10 drivers were available for my motherboard which helps as well as for my GPU.

It is as said very memory hungry, I am running 4gb and think I will either need to double the memory or revert back to 8.1

Well I am running DDR2 so it looks like a rewind back to 8.1 and a new laptop don't think you can get DDR2 4GB modules. I have 2 x 2GB at the moment. I was on EDGE looking at EBAY and the thing was stalling freezing etc, it was the only thing running moved to Chrome a bit better but still laggy.

It's not a bad thing if its using a lot of RAM in fact it's a good thing, if you have lots of stuff open.

Also don't forget drivers will get updates as companies digest 10 and MS also have a lot of updates and upgrades to come soon.

I will roll with it for a few weeks, but it says on the recovery, you can revert back to 8.1, but this feature will only be available for a month.
