Erm my technical preview updated today to what it now says is Windows 10 Pro with no mention of technical preview anywhere or any watermark indicating it's a preview as before
Ah nothing to be excited about, it's still a technical preview:

If you want to force the update . . .
Delete everything out of C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download
In Windows Updates, Click to search for updates, leave the window open but don't hit search yet.
Open command prompt as Admin and type "wuauclt.exe /updatenow" but DON'T HIT ENTER
In Windows Update, Click to search
While it is searching hit enter on the command prompt
You're now downloading W10
If you get an error trying to install use the direct link installer in the link below. (you might have to refresh the page a couple times)

The rollout is happening in stages (you can't force it Dunk lol), insider members will get it first, then its rolled out in batches by country and user/machine. So you probably won't get it today or even this week possibly if you aren't an insider member.

4X of the hp 650 8.1 laptops i've got in currently have all upgraded this morning using windows update, Had to manually update the latest intel on board driver for the network ethernet adapter but apart from that all ok so far.
I see an opportunity to install windows 10 on a new SSD
Would this procedure allow me to do it.
Download windows 10 as an ISO image and mount on HD
Then replace laptop HD with new SSD
Using original HD as an external drive install windows 10 onto SSD.

You only get a Windows 10 license if you upgrade from Windows 7 or 8.1. So, you would need to upgrade your current PC to Windows 10 first. This will give you the Windows 10 license. Then you can wipe the hard disk (or put in the SSD) and do a fresh install of Windows 10.
I reserved my Windows 10 upgrade a few weeks ago and yesterday my PC automatically downloaded 6GB to the c:\$Windows.~BT folder without any input from me. I'm just waiting for the popup to ask me to start the upgrade but I might hold off for a couple of days.
I run Windows 10 Insider via dual boot with no issues though.

If you're using modified drivers, you'll no doubt have to reapply those yourself later if they work with Win10.
Just used the tool here to download and upgrade my Win8.1 PC to Windows 10. So far so good. Everything has been copied across and seems to work OK so far

After upgrading to Win 10, what happens if I need to do a fresh OS install at a later date? I'll not have an install disk for Win 10, only Win 7.
