I've done alot of digging and it's paid off 2bh mate. ill be getting alot more car than I 1st thought. Most of this stuff the garage don't even know has been done. The previous owner isn't a chav or typical boy racer and he's into his cars and has done most of the work him self. He's been honest and in depth.i would of been happy to buy this car off him knowing what I know now. But end of the day the garage is still advertising it as 'fully comprehensive service history' and it's not. as it has no paperwork to support this so ill still be trying to get the price down.

Not getting the scoob now guys the story:
They had a more expensive (wide track) for sale. A guy from Scotland sent an engineer down to check it out and while he was there the dealers asked him to check over (my car) and reported it had the starting of bottom end engine knock. So the dealers just rang me up telling me all this and sending my deposit back by cheque, as he didn't want to sell it as is and me come back and claiming ect sounds a bit iffy to me but that's were we've ended it.... so gunna hold off till July now.
Bit gutted but bit of a blessing in disguise.
I'll now hold off till July till I have a bit more in the bank and get a widetrack I think.

Lol I am my own worst enemy if I'm honest. The right one is out there spoke to a few specialists around my way and said if it's local they are more than happy to come down and do an inspection on a car for me. So just waiting now lol

Rich, I've learnt from a long time ago, that buying from second hand car dealers is quite a minefield, and to be honest with you, I usually avoid them. There are just too many scammers out there, who try to fleece innocent people out of their hard earned cash.
Be patient and you'll find a widetrack example within your budget. Personally, I think that car was overpriced. Last October I sold my 2004 Widetrack, which was stage 1 modded by Slowboy Racing of Kent, and was in perfect condition in every regard, for just £6400. It did have 98,000 miles but the the new owner, who travelled over 100 miles, was very happy indeed, as he knew he was getting a bargain.
Too many people let mileage put them off, otherwise great cars. As long as a car has had all the necessary maintenance and repairs done to them, modern cars are built to do high mileages.

Cheers guys, my only problem is that the bimmer makes up around 4k of my budget.
so I've come up with a plan, if i wait till july my 8yncb policy is free to insure what i want. Then just drive the bimmer till I sell it so in reality I've saved my self money and got more time to save. Win win
Also I want to thank all you guys who've given your experience and knowledge by helping me with all this is. This is a top fourum you lot have got here.

Ask any questions about general or specific cars in here and someone will give you an answer. There are a few wind up merchants on here and a few people who think they know more than they do, but there are also a lot of very knowledgeable folks even if some of them don't always see eye to eye.. For instance I may have my differences with Trinity over some things, but he does know his Imprezas as do many others. Just sort the wheat from the chaff when reading replies so as to speak and you will find the answers you need. Good luck
