At a guess, a combination of people's natural aversion to change (particularly among the types to whom a career in politics seems attractive), some measure of vested interests, and the fact it would put us in violation of a good few international treaties, I believe. But hey, I'm not running the country, how should I know.

Fine in theory, the only problem being that as part of that education you'd I'm sure want some kind of standardized warning-labeling system (either in shops and/or on packaging), which would be impossible to enforce on the industry in its current completely unregulated form.

If people want to fill themselves full of sh*te just to have fun then they are sadly lacking in life.

Let people do it, if they die - it's there choice. But when they become a burden to the rest of us then people will squeal.
If one of the do-gooder's is touched or effected by it then watch the chickens come home.

and some of the most interesting people i have met were tripping on acid , they were not boring at all

Alcohol is regulated though. These legal high's aren't. Just because some t1t in his bedroom makes a powder out of anything he can get his hands on, doesn't make it safe. Look at the people who have tried it once have died.

Fake/unregulated alcohol is also banned, as it could kill someone too.

thats all pretty obvious stuff you are saying , the problem is its unregulated, like i said earlier it should be .along with all drugs.

instead of fighting a war on drugs(which hasnt worked and never will) and criminalising people for trying some chemicals

and like i said earlier its the people that make dangerous products for people to consume that are criminal not those trying them, it seems crazy to put the user in jail, if they took bad drugs and end up seriously ill is that not punishment enough , and if they took safe ones whats the harm?

theres an obvious answer, regulate drugs. like any consumable product .

put warnings on them aswell (educate people) let them make the choice

Legal highs: Seven-year jail terms under 'blanket ban'

The premise here is basically we can't be bothered to find out if a substance is actually bad for you so we are just going to bang you up for getting high!

I wonder if this will extend to alcohol. By rights it should!

Welcome to the police state you all voted for!
But thankfully not dumb enough to vote in another Labour govt

Wouldn't have made any difference, same dog, different leg! What would have been better under Labour would have been swiftly counteracted by what would have been worse and vice versa. Anyone who thinks any of the mainstream political parties is vastly better than another is genuinely deluded!
