standard up-pipe.....sleeve welded inside?
Yup, half a rover v8. All home made twin turbo stuff. Not sure about the small car bit though....79 granada!! New manifolds for me new engine. I didnt like the old ones I had made, so thought id make new ones. So F**k if the weldings messy, There wont be too many people in subarus keeping up to see it anyway. Until it rains

Totally different result on an STi7 - replacement up pipe, and full decat from turbo back - 1.7 bar boost spikes but went like a train. Various people are working on fixes for this - Unichip/Dawes/1.25mm restrictors/combination of these.
On an STi7 the much wider bore replacement up pipe allows the turbo to spool up quicker and it catches the ECU out as the wastegate can't react quick enough to pull the boost back. After a second or two it pulls it back.
Not very often on an Impreza you are looking for mods to *reduce* boost
I still *personally* believe a solid up pipe without an expansion joint is long term trouble though. The MRT one though.....mmmmmmmmm

Yes that MRT one does look like the 'proper' fix Dave
Is it stocked anywhere in the UK ? Any idea of price ?
David - Beware of the material you use for the uppipe, unless it is a special high temp steel (or stainless) it will scale at high temps, this scale then flies into the turbo at mucho metres/sec .........which will please it not !!!

Rumour has it that Scoobymania are producing an uppipe with a flexi-joint, but Mike Tuckwood still isn't answering my Emails.
Must remember to change my deoderant!
Duncan
PS D T-S - the MY01-02 WRX uppipe has a flexi-joint of a different type located by the catalyst.
