Does anybody know yet about the engine? Is it the same poor 2.5 from earlier or is it a better and new revised unit?

Well Subaru have denied there being an issue, yet we have a thread at the top of the main forum documenting numerous failures. We can make our own conclusions on that matter, as we are allowed to.

I have been led to believe that the 2015 saloon has exactly the same engine, even down to the same part numbers.

They appear to have sorted the problem since the 2011 hatch and saloon came in. I would suggest it's down to new mapping. The new car does appear to have more of a low down urgency compared to the previous model.

All I'm prepared to say is. If I thought there was any issues then it wouldn't be parked on my drive.

Hello

I read this with interest, as I have just ordered a 15 WRX STi!

the dealer is happy to remap it to 350 hp and of course I want this!

Will there be a problem to the 3-year warranty? At the end of the day the official Subaru Dealer mentioned it!!!

Thanks

Nice car Rob, hope you enjoy it.

Are you comfortable because it is in warranty or is it because something has been improved over the previous 2.5?

I didn't want my thread to go in this direction, all I will say is that I'm comfortable because any issues since 2010 model launch are very very few.

If your dealer is remapping your car your standard manufacturers warranty will be invalid as clearly stated in the service and warranty booklet Unless they are prepared to supply there own warranty for the remaining period

I see. thanks for pointing this out.
I should clarify this, as they never suggested it's out of warranty.
It would be a brand new 2015 straight away remapped ( that even Subaru can not trace!!! how can this be...)

Defo need to drive both versions, see if I need the remap...

Not a chance, Subaru japan have a list of CVN & CID numbers and CAN & ARE TRACABLE. Everytime a car is mapped these numbers change and cannot be stopped.

I know there are dealers who are offering this service if you buy the car from them, But I must state this is not endorsed by Subaru and it is of there own doing, They are supplying there own warranty & not that of the manufacturers.

That's a vote of confidence.

I've said it elsewhere but this is a stunning car, and the colour I'd have it in too.

I have been thinking of one for a daily since they came out but I'm just doing too many miles on the motorway to justify it at the moment

Cheers mate, I'm very pleased with the car so far and looks immense & goes well too. average 30mpg cruising to work around 80mph so its not doing to bad straight out of the box, 1000 mile oil change due tomorrow, I'm still old skool when it comes to this.

You can't be doing more miles than me....and at the mo I am using a car, that if given a go will do 22mpg whereas if I am gentle, it may do over 30mpg.

So... Just go and get it! Life's too short...

Theres plenty of aftermarket wheel options and works out way cheaper. Why are you bothered anyway you don't own one right?
