My classic is on 103k and the interior is like a car with half the miles, the rear seats and trim are like new as well. My engine was rebuilt (big end fail) 2k ago and the gearbox rebuilt a few miles before that (previous owner). The majority of the exterior is very good for its 18 years in service, it did have rust on the rear arch but I've cut that shît out and repaired it properly. The doors, roof, bonnet, sills etc are all on original paint and are in good shape still.

Nope doesnt bother me as long as it's been maintained properly.. I like a car that's been regularly used, I'm one of these people who believes cars respond better to this. My current classic (93' RA) is about to tick over 200,000km.. still on the original engine and going great :-)

Hi my first popst lol. I've just bought myself a sti hawk and it's done 104k and engine sounds mint and drives mint also. I think it's how the cars been looked after is the main thing. You see cars will 30k and have blown engine and other hand same car done over 100k with no issues. So for me it's more of how the cars been service an looked after then millage tbh.

This.

With classics in particular, they're now getting to a point where, at 15-20+ years old, it's all about condition - mileage will become less and less relevant.

You could find an example with 60,000 miles - which is a total mess - vs a fastidiously maintained 130,000 mile example, which is in far better condition in every way.

I only worry about mileage when I'm buying a car. If there's a choice between two otherwise equal prospects I would always try to buy the car with the lowest miles.
However once bought I don't hide them in the garage frightened to put miles on them. That's what they're for
I worry about selling when I've had my fun with them.

Sparkey has the hatch been forged as thinking of buying one this summer and just wondered if you had to forge to get such a good mileage on it?

I bought mine with 106k on and I’ve just clicked over 110k in its first year with me.

Going to do a few bits and bobs including remap. The way I see it, if the engine did go pop, I’d pay for a rebuild. The gearbox was rebuilt by the last owner.

The car puts such a big grin on my face that for what I paid, anything else I have to pay out in future is still a bargain imho.

My classic is on 75k as it's a summer car. But with high miles it's not just engine wear you need to think about, switches wear, seats wear, painted work gets damaged and chipped. Rust starts coming though, so yes first thing I look for is low miles on an impreza
At the same time you could have a 100k impreza hardly ever thrashed and only now and again when warm

and you could have a 60k thats seen track action every weekend and thrashed from cold

total contradiction! how a car looks and feels is far more important then milage and service history that can eaisly be lost!

But the low mile one will most likely have less rust and the interior will most likely have a lot less wear.

I'd prefer the engine to go pop and have mint body work than the other way around. Theres so many factors, depends if its been garage, own's owned it. But normally less miles means cleaner car fewer owners etc. Althoiugh you do get the odd ones with high miles one owner full service history, but still prefer low miles.
