Yes, I'm rich. Absolutely stinking loaded in fact. The point I'm making is that even fat cats like me can be put off by £500 road tax. And, as you mentioned it, appreciate 1993 Imprezas.
Great taste in wheels regardless

My 07" Spec C is £126.40 for 6 months, I didn't think the TAX band applies on Import cars?
I had a 10" transit van which was a import and it was £71.00 for the year.

Indeed

Would much rather be spending my hard-earned on rare forged JDM rims than on VED...

Prodrive did not do a wide track version, and with the 0-60 of 4.25 seconds only the cosworth is quicker. Prodrive made rally cars so they know what they are doing IMO.

I'm sorry to say that 0-60 time on the WR1 is totally unrealistic and has been ever since it got released to the press in 2004, No one has ever got near it, To put it into perspective the JDM Spec-C that has 335/330 has a booked time of 4.2 or 4.3 I forget now...but that car has a faster spooling turbo and is about 100kg lighter.

4.3 which is 0.5 slower than the superior WR1. I'm only basing it on facts real, defer to people that know more here on the actual foruma.

The WR1 is nothing special, its just a narrow track uk.sti painted a nasty colour and with dccd.
A jdm car or Widetrack sti is a better choice in stock form.
As for the 0-60 times etc a custom remap will be far better than the ppp or wr1 map.

You do realise it's an Identical engine and turbo as a regular u.k. Sti.
Only difference is it has a different map which is still no where near as good as a custom map

I like a WR1, was the first blob I really wanted, used to drive past one in a regular basis and think it looked really smart. Horses for courses I suppose 🐎

Different suspension set up and exhaust. Up-rated fuel pump + DCCD. Obviously a map will get more, but out of the box 316bhp for about 8k what comes close. Its hard to top the WR1..

It's not.
Widetrack sti
JDM sti
Spec c

The wr1 has the same fuel pump and exhaust as all the PPP equipped sti's
Not worth the premium as it has nothing special apart from a marmite paint job

Im sorry but take your wr1 home, all of the cars fat thomas has mentioned are superior, wr1 is exclusive because of its colour, nothing else and the suspension setup and dccd setup makes it understeer like a cooont

To be fair, the WR1 in its own right is a good car. But comparing it to a Spec C et al is a tad unfair. A lot of people slag off the WR1 without having owned one. I didn't think it was too bad to be honest.

Which Spec C had 335/330? As that isnt a stock one.

Yeah I know you weren't buddy. But most threads on this forum where the WR1 gets brought up turns into a hate war against them!

My spec-c limited did, ignore the 280ps...it didn't happen on spec-C's

And there is now way in this world a wr1 can hit 60 in 4.25 seconds...it was a great marketing plan as they had never released a car over the claimed 305 ppp which in reality is closer to 295 on a dyno

Hmmmm, that's what I was always led to believe. Until I took my newly imported Spec C to RCM back a few years ago now. It pushed out 276bhp. I said to Olly thats a bit down on power from what it should be? His reply of "They're 280 out the box so this is bang on."

Correct, probably closer to upper 4's. Unless you wanted to ruin the clutch getting it close to the claimed 0-60 time.

Sorry my mistake its was 335 after a UK fuel map, They left Japan at 320ps but everthing was still listed as 280ps, I remember Tony Burns having his dynoed over a few years and it averaged 312 from memory
