Joined as an 18 year old. 2 days after I joined a member took me out for a few laps of Knockhill in an RB5.... been hooked since. Really was a brilliant place back then.

I don't think Subarus will ever be worth what Cossies are.

However, it will be great when they're old and special enough to be owned by enthusiasts again, and not by kids with a dump valve obsession and over active eBay account.

Looking forward to the next few years as more classics are scrapped and just the show cars left
Bugeyes and blobs will be next for the chavs to ruin
Hawks and hatches probably won't change hands as current owners will all have to spend 5k rebuilding the chocolate engines so will just keep them

11 years here. That's a third of my life wasted on this site. Seriously though this place used to be a great site. There are still some helpful folk on here, but it's never felt the same for me since the old webby's scorched earth policy before the sell off to IB.

Original member here. I remember when Scoobynet started up. Was previously the sidc.co.uk bulletin board, then scoobynet came along to supersede it and the user accounts were transferred over. I think there around 300 accounts transferred over, and user profile number was issued in aphabetical order (I'm 114). For the original members the join date is the date they first posted on the new boards.

Bought my first Impreza, brand new, in August 1996 for £17,500 (with £1,000 discount) when it was a case of "Impreza? What's that?". Sold it two years later for only £500 less than I paid for it brand new. No such thing as grey imports in those days. Those were the days!

Probably need to get my post number up a bit!

bought my first Impreza MY97 facelift in June of '99. Paid £16000 for a car with 50k miles on the clock... back them, new UKturbo cars were a ten month waiting list and 2nd hand prices were kept hight. Kept the car 4.5yrs... sold it for £6k.

Bought a 52plate 4/2 smart a few months later in 2004 for £5200 (with 8k miles)
sold that in 2012 to WeBuyAnyCar for £1050.... didn't cost much to run and lost very little

Also bought a 54plate Smart Roadster in 2005, for £8200. sold that in Jan 2011 for £6200,
the same day went and put deposit on the 2009 STi 330s (£24k)... 4yrs on.... what's that worth?? lol

Think I had the best residual lost on car value with teh smart cars lol

Yep, still really good friends with Steve. See TonyG and Tidgy regular too. TedEd was my best man n 2006 and he and his wife are Godparents to my #2 son as well.
I must say without Sn and the Scooby scene my life would be empty... well.. got some good friends from my salsa days too.

roll on the next few years.

Health and happiness to all

I don't get that much time to go on ScoobyNet these days.

I started with a MY97 owned from new, then bought a new MY00 from Holland with help / advice from people on here (bargain at £15.5k when they were £21k in the UK). I kept that until 2011 and I have now got an RB320.

I sold my Cossie at 21 and bought my STI Prodrive edition, then just 3 years old in 2005.

Utterly gutted after buying the Subaru at how boring it was compared to the Cosworth.
10 years later, here I am with the same car, still trying to fill the Cossies shoes.

I think it's around a dozen years that I've been here, will find out once I press submit!!

Haha, that story is almost a carbon copy of mine. I was 20, bought a 3 year old T2000 from Town and County Subaru in Perth for £10495 and was instantly hooked!! ...after a c5yr break, I've just bought my 7th Impreza; a bog standard STI V3 Wagon with the intention of keeping it standard and using it as a fair weather/weekend car. Gotta say, it feels great to be back!!

Cheers,
Grant

Well this is much the same as my story and 12 years a go I could hardly use a PCs and it was massive and took up. Half the room and now I'm sat typing on the screen with something that takes up less room than an a4 pad crazy.

Sn has changed for the worst but I have met some amazing people from day one and am still friends with now. Im proud when people that haven't even got a scoob but used to, turn up just to catch up on the old days. Great times back then.

This place has been a major part of my life, especially from around 2001 to 2007 when I co-owned and co-administered this site.

ScoobyShop
ScoobyLive
ScoobySprint
ScoobySports
ScoobyNET Plus membership packs

It's been mega.

Awesome times and I've met some great individuals along the way.

Whilst the scene has evolved, by on large, the community "thing" is still here and going strong.

Long may it continue.
