Both Mallard Green?
The trim level was gonna be my next Q lol.
Did you find the 'big turbo' laggy at all (I guess comparable to an early 20g on a EJ20)?
Also, isn't the Escort Cossie 4WD set as rear-biased - something like 35:65 at steady state? Like the Classic's DCCD, I guess. How much can that percentage split change toward the front, when grip is lost at the rear?

Motorsport was Mallard and the LUX was a metallic black..... can't remember the name of the colour now.
The turbo was fairly big and wasn't that instant..... but it was a proper old skool turbo car. Wait for it, wait for it...... yeehah!
It wasn't as laggy as the T4 I had in this one:
Although I had that OEM turbo re-worked, along with the engine and fuel system...... that ended up meeting it's Model name.... 500bhp through the rear 15" wheels.

They're only cars mate.
For a touch of provenance, that RS500 was previously owned (was on the log book) by Adrian Newey (as in F1).... who lent it to David Brodie, who subsequently took Frank Williams for a test drive in it (when it was 400bhp) and **** the life out of him (apparently). How cool was that.
It **** the life out of me at 500bhp..... so much it had to be sold, else I would have wound up in a ditch somewhere. lol

joz8968,
The very same.
The old R5.... that brings back some memories.
Carnut,
If I toted up how much I'd spanked and lost on cars, then I'd be sick with you. It's all relative mate.

I can no longer ride bikes so have now reignited my love for cars, hence drool over your cars.
The A45 AMG is definitely my target car

I've actually come from bikes, so hence why I need POWER and over the top styling to excite for that "buzz".
I prefer 4 wheels nowadays..... getting too old for that bike malarkey. lol

Nice car Shaun, great choice.
Totally agree mate.
For me, its a 635D with six speed auto paddle box for my 30'000 miles per annum and an E39 V8 M5 on the drive for weekends.
However, I look at them both of a weekend and still take the 635... fail.

Stu - Anyway you can access and map the ECU's on the A45. They're apparently locked and I don't quite fancy the idea of using one of those "tuning boxes"?

I removed my RENNtech unit yesterday just to test how much different it felt, but to also possibly sell it as the cars not moved in a few weeks.
You can so tell its off, the car felt kinda flat now, ive listed it on ebay but may take it off if I don't get any offers this week, as I think the cars a differing animal with it...

cars not moving matt at moment, I was testing water see if I could sell it. Moneys better sat in my pocket than in a none moving car. Somebody else can have the fun with it. There very good if you play a lot, I don't.
the best 1 to go for would be RENNtechs stage 2 but it would mean a trip to Germany can I cant be arsed lol..
Ill see how it goes and pop it back in Sat if I don't get any offers.

Hmmm, my 355bhp hatchback feels really underpowered. Dammit it MUST have a remap...
Do Veyron owners look for a remap company the second they buy one? Surely 355bhp in a hatch is enough I find 320 more than enough for me!

I don't want to lower the tone of the thread but there does seem to be a few being sold on after a few thousand miles on the clock.
Is it maybe the type of person that buys them, ie they have always got to have the newest thing and quickly move on. The only other thing I can think is they are unable to make a connection with the car?
That could be some of the reasons we see them being tuned when still new, just trying to find something in the car that's not there.
Or I could be full of **** and that's not happening

id have thought their pedigree for Merc Modding and being Weistecs UK arm would say different.
however id still go with RENNtech as they are the leaders, not many options open to be honest
Rebellion
RENNtech
WillAll
These seem to be leading the charge, a lot more now appearing with new Maps, I would presume the old school like Licthfields etc wont touch these or are not ready yet.
DTUK I wouldn't touch with a barge pole, blew my Injectors in 10 mins did there Box, Spoke at length to Andy there but he gave up, not a good experience
Think im going to pop the box back on, missing its love it gives me..

Ted,
Just because the temp gauge allows the needle to go up to 120 degs, does not mean the engine and ancillaries won't suffer at that kind of temperature. That is some serious water temperature, and you only have to think that if the water was that temperature, what were the temps of other areas.
The load and overall heat on that engine must have been horrendous, especially with the gearing the A45 box has (that box will pull well in excess of 200mph).
The thing is, having hardware available is one thing...... utilising a skilled mapper who appreciates the nuances of the platform is a whole different ball game. I'll need to do plenty more research before I decide which way to jump... assuming I do jump that is.
Litchfields is hardly old school mate lol - they are already progressing with BMW and Merc tuning. I will have a chat with Iain to see what's what. I'm sure he'll be up for investigating potential development.
