Boyakasha,
I'm not looking forward to the cleaning. lol
Thanks for the link.
thenewgalaxy,
That was one of the reasons why I wanted this type of car..... never had a flappy paddle box before. And the noise it makes on upshifts..... gives me wood.
Ted,
Panoramic roof
Intelligent light system
19" alloys
Heated seats
Aero pack
Mirror package
Performance exhaust
Red brake callipers
The ONLY other option which would have put the icing on the cake (but it's not a daily driver so not that important) would have been the HK audio set-up. I'm sure the standard system will be fine though for my needs.
Pretty well spec'd for what I paid, taking it's age and mileage in to account as well. I'd suggest it was the best spec'd and priced car throughout the MB dealerships, and with it being my local dealer made it perfect.
I don't plan on modding tbh...... but I wouldn't say I'll never get a tuning box to take it to 400+bhp. lol
Steve,
They are very reasonable to run and maintain tbh. £180 tax, tyres are what I'd expect to pay at about £160 a corner, 12500 mile service intervals are on average below £400 a year and insurance is around £300 pa for me.
Fat-Thomas,
I'll see you down the local McDonalds then when I collect it.

Yeah normal stereo is ok, you'll be fine... Near same as mine then I had stereo and steering wheel pack, you've got ILS which is nice and black which was extra..
When you collect it?
Tell me how you get on making it pop and bang, I tend to use manual and ride the gear to junctions it pops like mad and backfires lol, also a good game gun it and when you pass somebody time the change so it bangs lol I'm such a child
Don't forget if your in comfort or sport and use manual if you hold right paddle for 3 secs it goes back to auto.
Double press brake for HOLD in traffic

It needs to go through the workshop for pre sales checks, so I'll get more info tomorrow. I'll push for either this coming Saturday, or the following Monday.
I'm quite looking forward to all the noises.

I still have my Impreza even though I should really part ways as that will be what it will feel like when I finally get rid of it as its like a trying to end a relationship parting with my car

Steve,
Unless you still want the Scoob to drive, cut the emotional attachment and get something else imo. Ditch it.... There are so many other delights to experience.

And as Shaun found out once the A45 seed is planted no matter how much financial sense it makes to keep an existing owned car.
The gremlins always win...sleepless nights, endless YouTube video watching, endless review hunting..
Now it's all done and can be ignored lol.

Littleted,
I wouldn't quite go that far.... I'm not the local sultan. Although after seeing one in the flesh and driving one, I knew I was in for a whole world of pain.
It ticks a number of the boxes that makes it quite a natural choice coming out of a Scoob.
It's a shedload of cash for a hatchback, whichever way you try to cut it. Believe me, I've been trying to justify why I shouldn't have bought it, as much as I tried to justify why I should have bought it.
Can't wait to get it now though.
Jameswrx,
Thanks mate.

Brilliant brilliant car mate, as a car to go to work and back, maybe go away for a few days with the family and maybe go shopping it's got to be one of the best and fastest cars on the road, very very jealous. It is probably what Subaru would of liked to achieve with the hatch.
But as a car for the weekend why not something like this? (genuine question, just interested)
Zenos E10
Ariel Nomad/Atom
Radical
Lotus
Noble
Rage Comet R
Carver one etc etc
If i was looking for a fun toy for the weekend i would also look into a Microlight.
Does look great though and love the pops and bangs (one passed me the other day)

Carnut,
Thanks.
In some respects this is EXACTLY what the re-invented Subaru should have been, perhaps minus the price tag though. Subaru really need to re-think where they intend in being, as that "dirty" 2.5ltr engine will mean they will be going backwards instead of forwards imo.
If I'm being honest, those cars are too extreme for me. I wanted something that gave me a real buzz, and as I'm a 70's kid..... that meant sticking with a turbo. Also being a 70's kid means I'm getting on a bit now, so really wanted something with a number of creature comforts for distance driving..... I really want to "drive" this car, and not just have it as an ornament.
At the end of the day I could, if needed, use this car for trips to work in the week. So whilst I wanted it to be a bit lairy, I also wanted something that could be used for all manner of use, should I wish.
I know this is not everyone's cup of tea and is high priced (although if you add in the cost of flappy paddles and suspension on things like the Audi's, VW's and Beemer's - the difference is not that great!) for a hatchback, but it just ticks all the boxes for me.
In many respects I have to take my hat off to MB.... not only is this a new type of demographic (I suspect) for them, they're also having the ***** to make something a bit more bonkers than the rest and stand out from the crowd a bit. Weren't they the good old days with Subaru and Mitsubishi.
Thanks.

I'm really glad you made this choice Shaun, I'm not so sure you could have been this excited about picking up a Golf R.
I notice the comments about the hatch, Subaru did kind of achieve with the hatch what Merc have with the A45 but they didn't execute it very well on these shores.
The Japanese Spec C models are fantastic to drive and the R205 is a very desirable motor indeed. For all of the negative criticism poked at the Cosworth hatch over here, it rides beautifully, is well trimmed inside and comes with pretty epic performance. Just a bit too exclusive and a bit too expensive.
What they need to do really is make the regular cars as special as the limited edition models as these are what people expect.
But fair play to Mercedes, they got the market summed up and delivered just what everyone was after in all areas. It deserves to be successful.

Totally agree with you on the hatch front, but for us outside of Japan the 2.5ltr is just a no goer imo, in it's current guise. The problem is that Subaru are a small company, and obviously milking the old 2.5ltr for as much as they can..... unfortunately they're so far behind the rest of the crew now I think.
When other manufacturers are creating engines that should be more reliable, produce more power and overall cheaper to run, we'd have to conclude that the game has now moved on.
Whilst I'm going to sound biased, I just think MB have got this car so right:
"Mercedes is using all kinds of modern engine technologies in order to achieve 181 horses per litre, including spray-guided direct fuel injection, multi spark ignition, a gravity-die sandcast all-aluminium crankcase, forged steel crankshaft and forged pistons with friction-optimized piston rings, NANOSLIDE cylinder wall technology and air-water charge air cooling.
The twin-scroll turbocharger has a maximum pressure of 1.8 bar."
It's amazing how efficient the charge air cooling must be, to maintain power at that kind of boost pressure. I always thought that air to water charge cooling was old skool.... it obviously works in this application and the system appears to cope with power upgrades to well over 400bhp.
With all the turbo development that must be going in to the F1 scene, I suspect part of this set-up has taken some learnt knowledge from that usage.

Never had more than 4 pots, so I can't make any judgement on that one. Us chavs don't do anymore than 4 pots..... it upsets the baseball cap.
Although imagine what this AMG engine would do, if it were a turbo charged 6 pot.
Butty,
Not sure I can stomach it..... what are you lot like? lol

I remember a 3.2 190E AMG, and there were I think three AMG versions of the E Class available at the time though I think we only got the E36 here.
The W210 had an E36 and the C Class at the time had a C36 also.
Shortly after the C32 came out they put the same engine in the SLK, that must have gone like a ****er.
