I'm chairman of finance for our local town council and have a reduction of 8k
Doesn't seem a lot but it's 10% of my budget
Our county council has to save nearly 4 million from their budget in the next 3years so glad I don't have thier worries
One of the daft things is I can fill out a simple form and get a grant of the govt to cover my reduction
Stupid !!!
Take it off but I just reapply and get it back
I've saved 38 k in 3 years and spent even more on Xmas lights and next year I've increased the budget for parks and cemeteries and floral displays
It's amazing what grants are Availabke from govt departments
I was knocked back from the lottery for 150k to restore the council hq through an agency so decided to tackle the programme ourselves
Total cost will be under 35k on a DIY basis over a three year period
Again grants are Available
If every council micro managed projects like myself this county would save a fortune but most councils don't care and never consider the Money spent
Non politica council l if anyone asks

Interesting...and backs up what I said, an example of decisions being made to benefit the taxpayer, the community, rather than some ideology.
Our council has only recently started allowing schools to source stuff from other than council approved suppliers.
And I'm certain that some of the money THEY make goes back to councillors.......been told, but couldn't prove it...or I would!
