I don't really comment much. To be honest each have their pro's and con's but the last UK car I owned was a WR1. Good cars, but there's a reason I haven't gone back to a UK one. JDM have so so so many more goodies. I missed the burble when I sold the Spec C for the 22B but now I'm back in a JDM I can't say I miss it this time.

It's not just rear wipers you know, or perhaps you don't

Good troll though Matt, but nowhere near as good as fat thomas.

Your post.

"I know the newage JDM STI is different than the UK STI but are there any major differences between the JDM WRX and UK WRX?"
WTF are you trying to get across??

From what I understand, that the classic v3's JDM WRX is the same as the UK STi? JDM WRX 280hp, uk wrx 218hp uk sti 280hp etc

I dont think there is anything left on mine! lol. It always intrigued me come insurance time and I insure it as an STi, but i odnt know what itactually is,

In the classics there was no UK wrx or sti, just the turbo 2000 which had 208 bhp until my99 where is was upped to 215bhp.

Only the JDM models in the classic shape got the wrx and sti variants

rev limit on a wrx is 7.5k and sti is 8k, or you could use the applied model code on the vin plate

JDM V8 SUBARU IMPREZA WRX EJ20 ENGINE

THE JDM V8 Subaru Impreza WRX EJ20 Turbo Engine (AVCS) is superior to its USDM cousin in several aspects. As usual, the USDM WRX receives an inferior engine based on the older V6 GC8 motor.

The JDM WRX EJ20 on the other hand received an engine with all the bells and whistles that one would expect of a high performance engine. While the 2.0 displacement remains the same, the JDM WRX features a bump in compression (8.0 -> 9.0), better pistons developed using new hyper-cast technology (such as in the USDM STI), more aggressive cam profiles, better head casting, and of course the all mighty AVCS.

For those who are not familiar with AVCS, AVCS is a control device on the intake cams of the engine. Using an oil based pressure system, the cam timing is either retarded or advanced to increase or decrease overlap. This type of overlap essentially helps to create a “perfect” camshaft, allowing maximum power output throughout the power band while also assisting in emissions cleanliness.

The bottom line is the JDM WRX engine (rated at 246HP compared to 227HP) is far superior to the USDM WRX engine, and is what the USDM engine should have been. The improvements significantly reduce the notorious turbo-lag associated with the USDM WRX, allow the JDM engine to respond better to aftermarket modification, and produce a higher power output.
Basically the Newage JDM WRX is the best Impreza ever made. END OF.

I like the Newage Styling and aren't the Type R ratios daft when going over 320bhp? Has a JDM Newage WRX ever been imported here? I'd love one, I bet they go like a ***** futcher.
