Scooby K,

What I meant was, service history is good, but if someone can show the same value of receipts as the value of the car, then you have to ask questions, like, AM I GOING TO NEED TO SPEND THAT KIND OF MONEY TOO! to keep this thing on the road?
Or has it been so highly modded its unreliable. Unless you want somthing extreme for a specific purpose and then high maintenance might be a factor you account for , like track racing, or drag racing or off road hooning, whatever.

You need to start with service history, and it needs to be all accounted for.

A hawkeye JDM is a fairly new car, so as long as miles are reasonable and the owners are fairly low and it is fairly standard and you get to know the buyer a bit, you should be in for a good ride.
There's nothing to worry about in the car itself, except for if the car has been abused, that's why you need to do your home work.

But its not a cheap experience owning one, and hence why ownership can be quite short lived, I think a lot of people have always wanted one, but when the've had one for a year or so, then its time to move on, you have to be pretty committed to keep one, and I respect those that do.
In terms of being pinned in your seat, the twin scroll is a riot, you wont be disappointed, I guarantee that.

Anyway if you dont want one after a year of ownership, then you can always sell it. Having a scooby teaches you lots of other things, like how cheap other cars are to run, and you meet lots of good people on the hole.

I enjoyed when I owned my Scooby, attracted nice attention and felt good everytime I started it up. So I have some experience and know what to expect as I'm looking to buy another one. Overall they are such nice cars to own and makes you feel like a beast on the road..

The cars are sold in open auctions. Cars which come to the UK were exported only because someone offered more than a domestic dealer.

There are plenty of cars which will attract sufficiently high bids from domestic buyers to remain in Japan.

On the other hand: many of the cars sold here came from docks auctions and these were the crap from the Japanese market in many cases...

I think they are cheap to run if you buy right, mine has gone through 2 sets of tyres, 1 set of pads and service items such as oil and filters, I have spent roughly £700 all in keeping it on the road in just over 3 years and 20k miles, got my tyres and wheels cheap off here.

That said I have just spent £500 on springs and other "cough" enhancements.

Oliver how does spending the same value as the car on parts make alarm bells go off for you i have owned my latest car 2 months and already spent a 1/3rd of its value it doesnt mean its going to cost me more to keep it on the road

The JDM WRX cars, even in GC Chassis type, are all better equipped as standard and for the ***** wavers have higher BHP/Torque values than the normal UK Cars.

personally i dont like the rear wiper as it looks out of place on the newages, the proper jdm newages dont have it anyway.

as for twin scroll its a totally different power delivery to single much more linear and the sound is different,some prefer it others dont.

if you are keeping the car standard a jdm is better out the box but if your modifying its not going to make a lot of difference in the long run.

that said a pre 05 jdm car is probably worth the money over a uk car of the same year as it has dccd.

Who gives a s**t what it looks like, it clears my rear screen when its raining or dirty. Job done.

The only people who prefer the power delivery of a single scroll is a council estste chav wanting to 'feel the boooooosssstttt' or those who know no better (excluding 1/4 mile cars)

As for modifying, a JDM is a better start, you get a better engine, extra accessories, and a twinscroll set up out of the box.

fair enough i was trying to offer a sensible opinion. jdm cars are not for everyone, i wouldnt buy one excluding the spec c or special editions but thats due to me being a modifier.
i do agree its a better car in standard form but then again id say a uk widetrack is a better car than a non widetrack jdm car.

I noticed no difference at all, but it maybe that I cant drive well enough to find it, subaru did it for a reason...but i may of had my attention taken away with the terrible turbo lag

its just an updated car really better interior and a few extras and suspension tweaks.

uk cars didnt have dccd up to the widetrack cars though,although the pre widetrack cars had smaller hubs and wheel bearings and they fail a lot. the widetrack car addressed this issue with bigger hubs and bearings.

That is the only rear benefit is the centre console changes...JDM suspension is far superior over a uK set up for spirited driving. Pink JDM's are the suspension to have....can't believe I sold mine, gutted.

i think they all came with pink shocks, mine were pink when i swapped them out for coilovers anyway.
also the widetrack cars suspension is based on the spec c suspension.

could be the car was four years old when i got it also had prodrive stamped on springs too.

i have lots of history of things being replaced or changed from the previous owner and no mention of anything shock related though.

My last car 05 sti had pink struts and pink springs my car was ppp now have 03 sti jdm with pink struts but black springs

Damn, all that RD Subaru did to design a rear wiper, because it was needed and wanted...someone must tell the highly successful company that a troll in Kent says they got it all wrong.

We are discussing JDM cars and we like to see who we are leaving behind. But many of the performance cars have rear wipers.
