If your brakes are locking up your wheels, bigger brakes are likely to only lock them sooner. Stopping distance isn't just a function of braking efficiency. Those big round black things have quite a bit to do with it as well.
Yeah that'd be those low rolling resistance ditch finders he was using.

You're clearly into this kinda thing (cars & engineering) so I'd highly recommend you do some proper reading up on what on the subject. The biggest single factor affecting stopping distance is the interaction between the tyre and the road. You can have the biggest brakes in the world and your stopping distance will still be crap if you don't have sufficient friction between the tyre and the road.
its funny.
a little poke with the idiot stick and hes off again.
most of us had a wrx and saw the light but he keeps on telling us.
Owns 430bhp Blob STi, drives wife's 215bhp Bug WRX, declares STi is better and faster. Forum is sold.

Yeah I'm not going to just dive in this time, tyres are a given if I'm to focus on the handling side but I want the brakes to be spot on. Might even consider ditching the ABS if it suits my braking style better but like you say Neil my knowledge in this area is in its infancy.
Tight corners aren't really causing me problems it's approaching corners at 90mph and trying to get to 50mph in a very short time.
nope i sold mine last year and have no interest whatsoever in ever owning another sadly.
but in the future this might change.
Get a 'sorted' Classic, you know you want to......chavs can't afford a proper one so no worries there.
The rawness, nimbleness and scariness equals fun

If I ever bought another it would either be a type r or a newage spec c.
In a few years when the sioc etc have died out maybe
Once you get some decent tyres and get some heat into them you will start seeing that reduce, I dont even get 2nd gear wheel spin with nearly double your power annd no granny launching.
You need some decent pads
Decent Tyres (NS2r 180s or similar)
Along with leaving the engine running and bonnet down you are getting massive heat soak so will be losing power straight off the bat, turn off air con and let it cool between runs, your oil wont cool suffeciently between runs to be a problem but your radiator will if you let the heat escape the engine bay
Red hot day getting unbelievable wheelspin in 1st and 2nd gear.
I had some crap tyres on my ce28s when I bought them, at 6kg weight per wheel it wheel spun upto 3rd gear, now fitted ad08s and won't even spin in 1st unless I make it spin.
There's your answer
