Munna, if I can assist you in understanding what I did with Davy's car I would be very pleased to help. It does not involve splicing (cutting wires in the loom to the ECU and making new connections usually with piggyback type computers whereas this is a reflash of the original ECU with no physical changes whatsoever), an additional 60 BHP and it is nothing to do with Evos if that is what you mean by Tommi (ie TM edition?) It involves an increase in boost to around the level of the widely accepted as safe Prodrive Performance Pack, with extra fuel in the low end during spool up to assist low end torque and smoothness. The fuelling in the midrange and top end is less rich than the standard car which can run up to 14% CO, but still runs about 9-10% CO whereas some would map to 7-8% CO and still enjoy long term reliability. The ignition advance is increased where there is low risk of detonation - thus helping throttle response and spool up, and held back in the midrange more so than the Prodrive ECU which is a bit excessive in places. In addition the low octane maps are tidied up and the boost curve is fattened up within sensible limits of the intercooler and turbocharger compressor efficiency map. The result is a car with a lower boost threshold, wider power band, but still excellent thermal management and if detonation is detected it can remove more than 10 degrees of timing, add fuel and then cut the boost. If you think Subaru's maps are optimal you might want to have a look at them and see - there are in fact areas where the low octane maps are the same or more advanced than the high octane maps, and there are bugs in the code of some ECUs. The net result of sorting out the fuelling and timing is virtually no change in the EGT since optimum timing keeps things cool. I have personally tested all the parameters well beyond what I would contemplate mapping a customer's car to. In changing the high octane maps you allow the ECU to extract more performance safely on high octane fuel. An engine is more likely to go pop because of a failed MAF sensor IMHO than it is a careful, safe remap, otherwise I would not be doing it with my own or anyone else's car. If there are any other queries I am happy to advise, and I hope you enjoy Davy's car - I hugely enjoyed mapping it and I gather he quite likes the result too.

Rusty Fiesta,
I have never had any dealings with Stan Palmer, however, I bought my MY98 Wagon from John Wildings and have had excellent service from them ever since, the sales staff have changed since I bought my car but the service people have been very very good.

sport special, Was there last Wed. at Palmers to get a connector for my new WR Sport rear spoiler and some touch up paint, and they didn't have either
Were you on a run last year from Dumfries organised by S. Solley in your new sport? that's when I still had my black WRX
DaveW, you not like the noise anymore, or have you ran out of cash to get that huge picnic table painted
