Hmmm, not sure; they seem to heap praise on Renault Sports but they are a b4stard to own. Alfas often get false praise too despite mostly being cr4p.
Ferraris get nothing but praise but my limited experience of them is that they are more fragile than a Ming vase.

But don't forget that the GTR gets heaped with praise although I'm sure most of it is justified.

I'd have a Macan too I reckon; fast, nice to sit in, useful on our knackered roads. Do they only get a two year warranty though?

 

OTR price includes 3rd year warranty, you can take it off if you want and save about a grand. We did - because we wont have it in 2 years so its pointless for us. As it will probably go back to the dealer as PX for another it wont effect trade in value either as OPC will have to put another 2 years on it anyway.

 

Oh, and the US market - and others get 5 year warranty... for the exact same car... go figure. In fact a car that's been on a ship for 6 weeks vs 2 days.

12-18 month wait is way too long, I waited 6 weeks once and thought that was a bit much, pretty much lost interest in the car by the time it arrived.

Although a well specced Macan Turbo is £12k cheaper than a base RS6, so not exacly similar money. I'd bet its a better drive too.

When we were there we saw a Macan S which had been specced from £43k base to over £65k!

I'd stick with standard wheels; 21" is a bit silly.

I think it should be all or nothing, what's another £10k when your already spending £40k+ If your going to have one it may as well be how you want it or you'll just start to hate it after a while.

Giant wheels are purely cosmetic; they spoil the ride, tramline and tyres are silly money.

I think another 25% is rather a lot to spend on extras.

 

I'll give you the tramlining and ride quality as i've just changed from 18's back to 17's on the blob and it's much better.

For me £40k on a new car is rather a lot you already know my views on new car deprecation, but if that's what floats a persons boat then it's fine by me as it's not my money.

Yes 25% on extras is a lot but it seems to be the way with prestige cars, ever since mercedes started doing it the others have followed suit, obviously a good earner and easy way to increase profits by 20% through fleecing your customers.

 

If you're careful, you will see a return on some extras; I chose our options (about £6k or so) partly according to BMWs own GFV values; some "obvious" options actually see no GFV at all (metallic paint, adaptive suspension), while our two "mid range" options, the stereo system and the nav, both hold a much better percentage than the top option.

However it'll still depreciate like a bar steward but at least we got £6.5k off RRP.

The camper is a very slow depreciator but it's fairly well loaded; £7.5k off list helps. But the cost of extras were still a major decision on the £30k BM (list £36k) and the £45k van (list £52.5k).

 

I saw the Macan in a showroom a few months back and it is a very nice looking car both inside and out.

If it drives as well as the reviews suggest then it ticks a lot of boxes. I would own one, preferably in Turbo guise, or even Turbo S if they bring one out.

Turbo S and GTS are expected next year. We are probably going to order a Turbo in October to replace our S Diesel but will probably stick a caveat on the order to change to GTS if it comes out.

 

A turbo S version would be MAAAAAD; and lots of fun!

I like these, as the OP said if you spec it right ( wheels are most important to make these look good ) if should hold its residual. I saw a black Turbo one, looked very nice indeed. Its deffo where my money would go if I needed a Jeep esk car.

Wouldnt touch an evoque ( posh freelander) though, apart from the owner on here ive yet to hear a good thing about them, from actual users. Wifes besty has the top one 14 Plate and its been back so many times shes now rejected it and returning it,

Boot wonky
rear panels loose once removed, told by LR this is what happens WTF on a 50k car no way.

A friend of mine has an Evoque and she has had all sorts of issues with it. Electrical and panel/trim issues mainly. My 11 yo 120K Volvo banger has less rattles than the Evoque.... 9 months old!!!

 

Just shows the power of the LR brand

Ive just sold my 991 C2S ready for my GT3 in November but as I've now got some spare cash the Mrs is bugging me for a Macan. I'm happy with the 2 year wait as thats when her car is due to change. Specced the S to 66k so for me its a bit of a no brainer to go for the Turbo that I've specced to 71k

Im off to my dealer on Saturday to go through specs/test drive. As its over 12 month wait its only a 1k deposit

Not sure what kind of net worth I'd want to have before finding it OK to drop £60/70k on a car though!

 

Three years into Evoque ownership, just thought I'd update to say that it's been 100% reliable and no rattles. Practical, still looks great, good off-road and worth 70% of its original price.

So much for all the muppets who slagged it off, Scoobynet really sums up what's wrong with car forums!

As for it being a fake RR, go to laugh at somebody saying that when they rented a fake AMG!

You must have been lucky my mates on his 2nd gearbox on his evoque in 3000 miles and some of the cheap side panels are loose...never again he said.
