Lap times can very misleading, a professional round a dry track is not the same as the average person on the road or track. In some cases a less powerful more docile car can be quicker in the hands of the less experienced.
I used to race a 450 motocross bike but found that when I moved down to a 250 I was a bit quicker.

I've given up. XDevil is either thick or a wind up merchant, Either way he's spoilt an interesting thread with his crap. I gave up when he talked about buyers not wanting the A class as they would either have the S or the C class as the two are just so similar (C class= entry level saloon, S class = millionaire's luxury limo)

I said the blob was a minger, I didn't say every other Scoob since then was rubbish.
Talk about selective reading...

An SL55 is an awesome car; anyone who says any different knows zilch about cars.
Well we knew that anyway.

I believe I did just get my blobs and bugs mixed up - the bug eye is the truest minger of all.
Apparently lap times don't matter either - I wonder if motorsport should be told about this rather interesting development.
NO DAMMIT, MAX CHILTON'S MARUSSIA LOOKS PRETTIER THAN HAMILTON'S MERCEDES - ITS THE CLEARLY THE WINNER.

A Ford Focus.
And who are these big boys you talk of? An SL55 starter motor probably has more power than your Ford.

You're a head in the clouds dreamer. Oh and you accused me of saying my car is faster than anything didn't you? Hypocrite.
Nice of your Mum to give you her old cars though.

With a slight turbo mod? Utter BS. Unless you're running well over 350bhp, which you're not, then I call BS. Unless you have proof, which you won't.

Cheers, bit of an old banger now compared to yours, but I like it. Wheels are BBS CH-Rs.... just about my favourite ever wheel and I didn't even realise they would suit the SL until I saw one in the US!
Full respray and then clayed and polished!

Cost me £18K in March 2013, but had it resprayed in Jun 2013 after extensive vandal damage! You would get a good one for £15K now!
2005 onwards is best as the Command system and a few other bits such as the interiror trim were changed that year.
If you don't want the AMG bits an SL500 can be had for half of that and that is a lot of car for £7.5K

You accused XDevil of selective reading then put this
After I put this
And I could be wrong but was it not you that was comparing a Aston to your 135i and talking about power to weight etc.

The brakes were stripped, fully reconditioned and coated by Pro Calipers in London. The finish is A1. New OEM discs, pads and Hel brake lines too. Car is currently running just shy of 600bhp courtesy of pulley, map, heat exchanger, IC pump, 82mm throttle body and exhaust mods.

Yes I was comparing the two; in a straight line, a V8 Vantage and M135i are very close. On a track it would appear that the BM is quicker.
I'm not sure what your point is about pro drivers; you have to have some way of benchmarking performance figures; surely a well trained and consistent driver is better than average joe trying to race for the first time?
F1; very nice. A shame it's still slower than a mildly warmed up blob eye WRX though

I do love big brakes on a AMG, my brother and dad between them have had a few, not the SL but saloons. My brother just picked his new s class up a few weeks back and the way it stops is mind blowing. My brother once got a SL for the day before he had kids, what a fun day that was.
