My Hawkeye is just about to be broken for spares
Everything on it is good and road worthy but as a whole its worthless
I am not greedy or profiteering but would like to get the best I can for the parts.
It is all about supply and demand but if its knackered then yes I agree it is a pi55 take, and you should do your research before hand.

That's the difference between breaking your pride and joy and breaking for profit. For the former you are just grateful to make some money back, the latter are pedaling average condition parts for nearly new prices.

I bought another car for its engine to put in my Hawkeye, but have found out the new car is well put together so have decided to keep it
I am trying it out on track late in June and if all goes well it will stay with me
This will mean all the bits on my well cared for Hawkeye will be up for grabs so yes it is something that I would fit to my new car Stu, the 6 speed being the main one. If I do Anglesey and don't like the 5 speed ppg then I will fit my 6 speed and keep it, otherwise it will be for sale

Like me and my WRX... I bought it for the 6 Speed to put in the wagon then decided to keep it and break the wagon
For what it's worth I prefer your new one even with the marmite styling
Defo keep the six speed it makes for a much better car IMHO and no worries about snatching 3rd and 2nd for trackday abuse
I am on the hunt for a clutch for the 202 as I exploded my twin plate today lol
My philosphy with the wagon I broke was if it isn't something you would refit to your car, bin it or give it away

So back on topic.
Yes I am b!tching because like I said in my original post this is an enthusiasts website, we are here for our love of all things subaru but the breakers don't care about us or the cars, their only interest is how much money they can make out of us.

You and others may think because your linked with some of these breakers and they are all pally that they are doing you a favour and your friend,( not trying to insult your intelligence just making the point
) but it's all about the money and I don't like it when people make out like they are doing us all a favour taking our money, we the community are providing them and many others a good living which they might want to take into consideration when dealing with us.

your missing the point of the OP's comments. Its not supply and demand, its capitalisation on a small enthusiast market and setting high prices between themselves which are above what in reality a part should be worth
I remember an interview with Billy Bragg a while ago...now I am not a socialist or anything, but to summarise, he said something like this when commenting on pirating that if music and film was cheaper, pirating would be less, and the musicians, actors etc would be paid less, yet they would still have a good life and live comfortably just without their inflated houses and speed boats.
Makes sense. Be fair. That's all I'm sayin'.
and I really doubt breakers are paying £6k for a car to break!

I'm pointing out the fact that we as a community are being taken advantage of, a point which is obviously too complexed for your limited intellect, let's leave it at that shall we.

I'm actually glad that so many are now being stripped for parts. Means that the ones left will go up in value and that there is a healthy 2nd hand spares market.
Same happened with a lot of cossies and many other classic cars.
