Very cool. I'm pretty sure my Subtank will make it's first birthday in January then maybe time to look around, will probably stick as it's easily good enough for me. iStick 30 is looking a bit worn but still goes the full day.

Ok wicking next, I've been RBAing for a while now and I've tried different methods of wicking,

1. Stuffing in loads of cotton always keeping the juice holes clear.
2. Cutting the ends short so the cotton just sits inside the rba case, then poke into and around the holes.
3. Or the spiral method by bunching up the wick really close to the deck.

Nothing seems to last very long, its not a problem as the jap cotton lasts ages, but I cant get any of my wicks to last more than a week or so. They usually lose taste or it starts to leak through the airholes. I usually cut the cotton to 4mm in width, which I believe is about right.

What works for you?

Tough question as i made up some clapton coil build and did not like it
An absolute PITA to fit due to the gauge ,too big but 30mins of not giving in

Too harsh so back to how i like it,2xnormal 0.5ohm coils

Now my build i put in after the clapton leaked for fun, poured out so i adopted a slightly different method.

Depending on coils size will vary the wick width, i cut around 5mm ish, twist the end very very tight to feed through. Then pull through carefully(no point in getting 1/2 way as getting cut off anyway). Then i cut the wick by marking it with the coil cap(push or screw on 1/2 a thread to mark cotton). Cut there.....

Right ,i used to wet it and fit cap, often catching the wick in threads and trimming more off to fit, this was 50/50 great or leak.

Now i push the cut wick upwards, be it dry or wet with juice if easier(will stay in position better .

Then fit cap and secure, small driver and push wick ends down at each side, soak again, fit, couple of drags then start low. I am on 15w on my uwell crown RBA and it shows 0.27ohm !!! So forget what W it is,start low and work up a little. 40w or 70w means nothing if a crap vape, if it is good at 10w then thats what matters.

I presume the single rba of the mini,if so another method is this, watch from 5 mins

Dont give in, its worth it once got hang of it. Guy in work has made a few awesome ones to now be pi55ed off as the last 3 have been crap..........guess its just one of those things. Burn coil and all the crap off it before wicking, nice glow from the middle out is what your looking for..

Then wick it,little tip for cleaning is get it glowing, let off the power and carefully put under running cold water, this after a couple of goes cleans coil.

Worse case new coil and can be bought pre-made off the bay of e for pretty cheap.

New mod turned up yest, fantastic 60w vt60 mini. Love it for an easy every day vape, out and about ,work/car . Similar in size to the kanger mini but nicer display. Dont mind waiting and £28 from gearbest !!!!

Still await my black tfv4 tank which is will still say is the best tank i have had/tried,just pips the uwell crown. Just so versatile,so many coils and the single and duel rba is easy to work on.

vt60 mini(software update worked 1st time issue free..........one thing joytech do very well and SMOK dont!)

There is a cube 2 mini coming out,75w single cell and with side bar..........should be pretty awesome.

My fav mod is the smok xcube 2 by a long way, the side bar is awesome and a joy to use, other mods just dont feel as natural in hand. Even though its a heavy large power house, its great . Especially with the dual cells, vape times are awesome and can last all day.......almost(from a guy who can drain an 18650 in under an hour )

Too add,its normal to get a little off taste for 1/2 to full tank at 1st. The cotton wick need to bed in, so unfortunately sometimes you have to put up with the off taste, once bedded in its worth it.

Some dry burn to shorten the process, not had much luck so i do it the old school way

Ah the cotton ears method haven't tried that one, it uses a lot of cotton though. Interesting that he split the cotton strip in half after cutting it. As the cotton layers are sandwiched I thought you couldn't do that.

I found yet another method which is working well so far. Immediate spot on taste and no leaking, but it is only day 2 There seems to be a lot of different ways of doing it, each person's vid on utube of course is the best way

Jury is still out for me. As Jack says its too much faffing about. When you can simply chuck an OCC coil away and replace in a few seconds.

I will persevere

The egrip has been around for a while http://www.joyetech.co.uk/electronic...tte-kits/egrip and I remember one that cost a bomb and used cartomisers, but was ace looking.

Apparently no airflow control which might be an issue.

Defo worth it, you can make 50 coils for £10

The vape is better once find your method and the mini is not the best tank for RBA , the tfv4 dual is something else for example and nothing comes close for flavour and cloud.

Trouble is now, nothing really compares, the uwell crown RBA is single and a very nice vape(well above the mini) but not as good as the tfv4. So everything for me now is judged against..........hence a 2nd tfv4 on the way.

Cant beat swapping for convenience and the mini coils are very good, but once cracked on the RBA front, it is hard to go back.

I have put off making coils for ages, again convenience /time ,but now i can knock a build up in 5 mins easy and so far last a long time. You can re-use the coils, quick burn and clean, fresh wick and away you go again.

Of course thats me, everyone is different and prefer different set ups, what works works and thats all what matters

I just picked up a new ProTank base, the medium airflow on the new style is perfect for me so I'm hopeful. pbursardo has one and said it's quite airy but that means nothing.

TBH the nebox has too many negs for me, changing juice........i like flexibility of swapping tanks. Form factor is off, looks a tad uncomfortable in hand(could be wrong). Dont like the drip tip being too close to mod,i know thats the way they are with built in tanks.........Heat an issue being close to mod, just having the mod too close to my face to vape would not feel natural for me.

Then the screw cap for cell which looks like it needs a coin, screw caps are not best to start with(i know could just do finger tight) just been spoiled with magnetic covers.

Where does leaky juice go, its going to happen!!

How easy is it to swap out coils?

Pros-10ml tank!

Of course just my opinion and could be way off, still will wait as said for reviews ,cant see me buying one anytime soon.

New provari box mod looks more like it for me
Look to buy from places like gearbest, would guess at £40 ish.........for the nebox

I think it's squarely aimed at people like me, who don't want any faff at all. I won't take the battery out, coils are at the bottom with a twist cap, I'm slightly concerned about cleaning but enjoy mixing flavours up a bit.

Horizontal OCC (Organic Cotton Coil) or Vertical (BVC - Bottom Vertical Coil) ? Both will work in the subox mini tank.

BVC 0.5ohm is out of stock at the moment, but i use this site mostly

As mentioned you can use both types of coil, but the vertical ones give a better vape imo.

if you have a local store try there as they are a very common tank so most shops stock them, if not then its online.

Took the plunge and got myself a little Vapouriz fuse650 got a couple of bottles of juice and a spare coil, less than £30 all in just to give it a go and see how I get on with it so didn't want to spend too much in case I didn't like it.

Thus far I must say I quite like it and have only smoked a couple of rollys when I ran out of juice at the local bar on friday night, been vaping since monday.

I'm now looking at getting something a little more serious and some better flavours, I think i'll be trying something a little sweeter as I have one that has hints of caramel which is really nice.

I think I'm hooked, so again looking for a recommendation for something a little more serious and reliable with not too much in the way of faff for now, would also be good if I could go down the DIY coils etc route with it in a month or two, when I have a better idea about what I'm doing and what sort of flavours I like before I go for a bulk buy and mix my own.

I know there's stuff in the tread about them, but having read back a few pages I see there's some new stuff coming to the market and just wondered if there are any new options.

I also don't want to keep swapping and changing so just want a decent bit of kit that's going to last and has all the bits available for diy and is versatile.

Lots of reading ahead of me.

Thanks in advance.

Hi there, the kanger nebox is pretty neat which is pictured above, not perfect but a good starting point(little air flow restricted from what i have heard). Then the kanger mini kit is another good option, still great today imho and available all in for under £50.

The kit comes with an RBA so you can have a go with the re-buildable coils come the time.

The vt60 mini i really like to for a small mod box, have a white one on order from gearbest as Rach has not smoked for 2 weeks now. iirc £25 (around £40 in UK) and have bought another uwell crown and TFV4 tank.

Right now what has kept her off lights, vt60 mini,TFV4 with dual RBA and a DIY mix of vanilla custard from capella. Its very very nice(and vanilla is not really a vape flavour for me). Like vaping ice cream!!

Beware of buying anything like this from Amazon, a hell of a lot of counterfeits around, read the reviews carefully before buying from any of them.

Cheers ven.

Still a bit undecided, looking at reviews all the stuff you mention seems to be top draw, tempted by the racing yellow vt60 and your smok x cube 2 but I think that's a little on the large side, recon I'll end up with 2/3 mods and a few tanks.

Is there a cylindrical / pen type mod that you could recommend for when I'm out and about as I don't want anything too bulky, then I may go for the x cube 2 for home use.

There is a SMOK cube mini coming out(yep i have pre-ordered it) which is smaller than the cube 2 and single cell.
Pen type, not many tbh as most are box mod style. The vt60 mini is quite small/compact as is the kanger mini kit. I often pocket them when out and about. Trouble is when using sub ohm coils you need a minimum of 3ml capacity as they do drink. The tank on the pic bellow the 1st one(uwell crown)is the 5ml TFV4 ,both have the dual RBA coil in at 0.25ohm(2 x 0.5 ohm coils=0.25ohm).

So it will be a little bulky to an extent, flip side longer between topping up with juice.

Just got back from a not so local shop, went for the Kanger subox mini in the end, they had the vt60 in but a tank was extra and the only decent tank with rebuildable coils was the subox one, if I'd have gone for the vt60 it worked out as an extra £20 so I thought it money better spent on juice, wire and cotton, the extra couple of heads in with the pack sealed it too, I like to feel as though I'm getting a good deal,

There were a couple of other options, one with a built in battery, which I didn't fancy, and a couple of Eleaf ones but again meant paying more for a different tank with rebuildable coils, so again the subox came out on top as a whole package deal for £50, managed to get the wire and a bottle of juice thrown in so I'm happy, just wish the bloody thing would hurry up and finish charging so I can have a go on it.

Cheers for the help and advice, no doubt i'll be asking for some more when I start making my own juice.

Great stuff, its a very good set up! and i still use mine today when out and about.

Ideally you want a 50/50 mix juice of VG/PG or higher VG. I am using about 80%VG and 20% PG at the moment for an extra smooth vape. VG= smooth and cloud and PG= throat hit and flavour.

You can vape whilst charging if you want too.

Ideally if you dont already that is, is to get used to direct lung vaping rather than mouth to lung. Hard to explain in words, but draw in to the lung (kind of sucking down wrong throat). You will get an awesome vape without coughing......may take a little to get used to.

Start the W off around 10w level with the 0.5ohm coil, also drop some fluid into the coil(not centre) but around edges of wick. This primes the coil and look at juice holes to change colour due to fluid soaking down the wick in the coil.

Once in tank, couple of draws without power then good to go. After a few mins gradually work way up in W. I find around 15w ideal vape power.

The RBA inside box is easy to do, just trim a 5mm strip off(about 1/2 the width of the cotton) So 2 strips =2 lots of coil uses. Make sure go with the grain or it will rip easy(gentle pull on the cotton will tell you if it starts to open or feels strong).
Remove top part of coil via small + head, just a turn or 2 and slide up off base.
Twist end of cotton tight, feed through the coil evenly.
Then open ends and trim to edge of base(prob about 4mm each side or so).

Tuck wick ends in on base so not going to catch on the lid,now wet wick with juice on top and under. Position cap over and spin it a couple of turns and align with + head screw. Fit down and secure, then with small screw driver position wick down if needed.

Another way is to soak wick ends, point up and fit cap over, then once cap is secure position wick down into place with small screw driver...........which ever is easiest or works best for you.

Good to vape with RBA
