Loss of revenue I suppose. Encourage people to quit via various methods (knowing full well not everyone will kick the habit) is being seen to be doing something. Whilst each year ramping up the tax, so those who still carry on smoking offset the losses created by those that did give up. If they really wanted everyone to stop, they would just make it illegal.

Tobacco companies must be getting concerned though, bringing out 19 packs, presumably in an attempt to bring the price per pack down a little bit.

Every tobacco company has bought an e-cig company. Wise.

I use Gamucci ones. Haven't lit up for 14mths now. Lung capacity feels amazing and bags more energy. Can't think of a single negative. If there is proof of health drama to others I'd happily stop inhaling them in public but not for the reasons outlined which are ludicrous. Smoking is already normal! What next ban all films showing smoking from yesteryear?

I'd say tackling obesity should be more of a concern not e cigs.

Worth noting I can happily not have an e cig for days on end so they have worked wonders in assisting in ditching the habit. I'd recommend them to any traditional smokers.

Well done on giving up the demon tobacco, a year and a half for me now. Every now and then the urge still comes back to haunt me though.

I need a clean palet in my job as what I taste affects others. Aside from health concerns (came of age hitting my thirties I guess), I didn't want to smell, especially if meeting customers. These have helped tick those boxes. That and I've saved a small fortune even as a ten a day smoker at worst.

Best thing I did, giving up that nasty habit.

The cigarette plain packaging is a joke. Like the colour of the pack makes a kid wanna smoke?! Who thinks these proposals? Weren't they kids once?!

I agree with what someone else on here said - if they are that bad for everyone then just ban them. Prob is that the government would then lose tax revenue so they let it continue. A legal high kills 3 people and it's banned within a few weeks, god know how many people have died of smoking, or alcohol abuse over the years.

Go with lower nicotine content or higher VG ratio.

A friend let me try their e-cig a couple of weeks back. My throat hurt for a the next few days! I smoke 3 or 4 ciggys a day, mainly when I get home in the evening. I am a bit odd in that I also do regular exercise.

I went to the doctors recently after having a cold for about a month. As soon as I said I smoked, he laid down the law. He then listened to my chest and couldn't believe how clear it was for a smoker. I did say may be the running and training have helped but his face was a picture.

I know it's not good for me, but I like it. If it is the awful killer that they would have us believe, they would ban it, wouldn't they?

I just don't get how something can be sold which is taxed to the hilt and then the same government tell us not to buy it.

I think many are being unfair on HMG. I believe that they are genuinely trying to cut smoking down and have, in fact, done a pretty good job so far with very high tax rates.

You can't really expect govt to ban the damn things surely?

Of course, cigarettes are bad for you.
But so is alcohol, processed foods and apparently, the air we breath.

And surely, why the hell is it legal for the addictive drug that is nicotine, to be advertised? Christ, there was even advert on a kids channel the other day for one brand.

Is that right? I don't think so. Also, nobody knows the long term effects of e-cigarettes.

The whole idea of replacing one addictive habit with another is just insane.

You're right about the long term effects of e-cigs.

Nicotine isn't that bad of a drug as far as I'm aware, however its the other shyte they add to tobacco that is nasty stuff.

Have to say as an ex smoker and a social shisha smoker the new ecig world is a great one. I purchased a Provari mini and a Ego-w RDA. Have to say it hits the spot, but did find 50pg/50vg ejuice [all zero nicotine] was making me a tad nasal.

Changed over to a 40/60 mix and its a lot better...next batch of ejuice is gonna be 100% vg

I'm only on 6mg and although it not quite hitting the spot every time I can cope with such a low dose.

My battery died last night and left the charger in work so lent a *** of a friend. It was horrible. **** haven't tasted like that since I was 10.

Can't ever see me going back now.

Good work. I started on 18 and soon moved to 12, found it a bit tough, going to move to 6 soon. I only have batteries with pass through and pretty much always have a USB charger around me. Also using a MVP which lasts me at least three days helps

Going back to 'vaping', I am seriously considering it after trying my brothers 'E Go' the other night.

It was mint flavour and actually gave me a head rush which I didn't expect.

The only problem is, I can't find his kit online anywhere.
It included the charge, re-fill bottle and two liquids I think.

He paid £45 all in with a couple of extra bottles. (local shop on Hayling Island)

This either seems very expensive or it was a deluxe version!

Any ideas or preferences on a particular brand? Don't want to buy on eGay.

I'd rather buy from a reputable company and pay a little bit more.

I gave up a couple of days after i posted in this thread(3rd April) and went off to buy a Vaping kit, i used it for a month then went cold turkey. Nearly 5 months now without a cigarette and there is no way i will start again, vaping really did help with giving up...Not bad for 30 years on the **** and over 20 a day

I have one *** after work before I get tea ready for the kids. After that its the vape rest of the night. Don't use it during the day.

I've tried a few of the tanks but they have all had issues so just stuck to the cheapo one you get in the starter kits. I changed the battery to a Vision Spinner 2 with a large capacity as I found the starter one went flat too quickly.

As for liquids I use T Juice Red Astaire - its like smoking Tunes. Cherry menthol. I'm up to 12mgs though.

Funny this thread was resurrected today...

As on the news yesterday, they said that some scientists reckon that vaping COULD be as bad as real cigs, with regard to passive smoking.

May be in terms of nicotine addiction, but that's it. I am slightly concerned about the long term effects of vaping though.

Nowhere near enough research carried out but common sense would day it's far better for you than smoking.

Jut trying to decide on which one to go for.
