I thought double din was double din, DIN being a recognised standard size.

It might help if you state what stereo it is you bought then we can look into why you couldn't make it fit?

so it didn't fit because you didn't trim the surround? or it didn't fit because you didn't remove the previous units cage?

Or was it twice the size of the hole?

MJ,The simple truth of the matter is it does not fit because it is not made to fit, those cheap Chinese headunits are cheap for a reason they expect you to chop away at your own car dash to get them to fit as they are not made to O.E size specifications. My friend learnt the hard way also he purchased a similar headunit as you did for around £80,chopped up his car dash to get it to fit, managed to get it to fit 3 months later smoke was coming out of it when he turned it on,and its goose was cooked only fit for the garbage bin.Don't let some members hurt your feelings with their comments they mean well, they are just telling you the truth about your eBay purchase but just a bit harshlyNot everything that seems to be a bargain is,i'm afraid my friend you got what you paid for,Just take it as a lesson learned.SJ.

It looks nice but for that price? I'd be surprised if the quality was suitable for a doorstop....

I have an Apple Carplay Alpine unit in mine, cost a lot but fitted perfectly and works perfectly.

It goes like this. Lift the front of your gear lever surround trim, it's held at the front by two clips. Undo the two hidden screws. Now you can pull the stereo surround trim out which is held by four clips. BE CAREFUL!

Now you see your stereo is held by six screws holding the unit in. Once free pull out and detach the wiring connector and aerial.

Now measure the width and height of the unit. That will be double DIN. Any replacement you get will need to be this size. You will be removing the front bezel and using the two side frames on any replacement unit too.

Wiring will be with an adapter loom. Never cut into the original if you can help it. Buy a Halfords adapter and hack that.
