Hawkeye STI 350-400bhp
I was looking for a bit of advice regarding my Hawkeye STI and what work would be required to get to 350-400bhp after viewing Duncan’s guide below:
http://www.racedynamix.co.uk/remap/subaru-remapping/typical-upgrade-path-hawkeye-2-5-sti/
I’m not chasing big power, looking for a nice quick spooling road car. Handling is all sorted, so next step is to tweak the power.Researching shows that the standard block is good up to 400bhp before requiring pistons with uprated head gasket and bolts, so not looking to go over that mark.
Would it best to retain the existing turbo or look at taking a step up? Is it the TD05-20G that would be the next step up?
Any advice and help would be greatly appreciated. Mapping will be carried out by Andy Forest.
Thanks

I’m new to the Impreza world so learning by the day. Everything I search on the internet always turns up a TD05-20G so didn’t realise that was old now.
I would only go for a forged engine if something happened to force me down that route. Don’t plan on forging in preparation because I don’t intend to go that far (famous last words lol)
So the general thought to retain the original STI turbo on a Hawkeye with bolt on’s and a map for the standard block?
Thanks

once your standard turbo is maxed after decat and map then thats as far as you can go before you need to forge it. hawks don't have proper forged pistons in it and 400 will prob be enough to blow it up

So at the moment thinking exhaust, filter, fuel pump and remap. Leave it at that and enjoy.
Any other little things that can help it be better but not make a massive bhp difference?
Would ported standard headers and an up-pipe help in spool up on the standard turbo?

Funnily enough I was going to ask a similar question
In the next few weeks I will be forging my hawk sti ppp and was wondering how much I can get with remap? 380??
Looking at minimum for the bottom end
Forged pistons and rods
CDB insert
Bearings
Upgraded oil pump
Cosworth gaskets
Pink box clutch
Maybe stud upgrade not sure on this one
Edited to say sorry for the high jack
